Set the release mode to one of the remote modes. Look in your camera manual under either "Shooting Mode" or "Release Mode."

How do you make the ML-L3 wireless remote controller for Nikon D7000 work?

Press the release mode dial lock release and turn the release mode dial to the remote control position.

Full details are in the "Release Mode" section of the manual (page 77 in my copy).

I have a nikon d5000, and I need the remote control instructions.

Set the camera's release mode to one of the two remote modes. The quick-response mode fires the shutter when you press the button on the remote. The delayed mode gives you two seconds to hide the remote behind your back before firing the shutter.

For full details, look in the camera manual under "Release Mode" (page 65 in my copy of the D5000 manual).

New remote not working

Is there a little clear plastic strip sticking out from the remote? Some times, to prevent battery usage, the battery is insulated with a little plastic thingy that needs to be removed.

How do i set up my Nikon ML-L3 remot controller with my Nikon D60 SLR camara? No instructions came with it when i purchased it.

Pres the "+" button once, look for Shooting modes. You will have the following options:
  • Single shot (S)
  • Multiple shots
  • Timer
  • Remote control
  • Remote control 2s
With Remote control, the camera will take a picture when you press the remote.
With Remote control 2s, the camera will wait for 2 seconds when you press the button and after that take the picture.

How do i connect my wireless remote to my d60????

In the Shooting Mode menu, change <from either Single or Continuous or 10Second self-timer> to 2S (two seconds) Remote or immediate Remote -- there's an icon that looks like your remote. Then get in front of the camera (lens cap removed already) and point the remote to the IR receiver on the front of the camera and click the remote button ... it will take the shot immediately or after two seconds (depending on what you specified).

The shooting mode doesn't seem to stick -- if I turn the camera off and then on, it's gone back to how it was previous set and I have to set it to remote again.

My bigger problem was I thought (guessed, since there were no instructions!) that I had to press the self-timer function button before clicking the remote -- but doing that kept resetting my shooting mode back to 10 seconds on SELF TIMER (taking it off of REMOTE mode).

ML-L3 Remote control

Sadly, the ML-L3 does not work with the D700. You need to buy the much clumsier and much more expensive ML-3, which has a wireless receiver you hook to the camera and a wireless transmitter you use to fire the camera.

Lame, but true.

Using the ML-L3 with the D60

Got it! It's on page 54 of the manual (mine anyway).

Choose release mode from the Quick settings display.

You have a choice between:
single frame (default)
continuous (burst mode)
delayed remote (using the ML-L3)
quick response remote (using the ML-L3)

I just took 4 self-portraits using quick response. And deleted them straightaway!

I cannot get the ML-L3 infrared remote to work with my D300, their is no info in the manual.Any ideas

That's because the ML-L3 doesn't work with the D300, only with the less expensive models. Nikon has several different remotes available for the D300.
