Re: Mom was hitting buttons and now DVD plays Blue and...

I think your mom changed the DVD output setting. Using the remote, go to the Setup Menu, then select DVD Setup. Scroll down to the Alt Video Out option. It will either be set to "Component", S-Video, or "Off". It needs to be set to the type output you are using to go from your Go Video deck to your TV. If you are using an S-Video cable, then set it to "S-Video", if using Component cables (Red, Blue, and Green cables), then set to "Component". Otherwise it should be set to "Off".

Hope this helps.

I was playing with settings on my Zenith xbv342 and set the menu to progressive scan. I now have a blue screen with the words "progressive scan mode" I cannot get a picture and it is stuck in this m

Progressive scan mode is used by DVD players to artificially scale standard resolution DVDs to HD resolution, usually 720i. Is your set capable of receiving HD resolution? If not, that is probably why you are getting the blue screen.

DVD players generally have 4 possible ways to connect them to a TV set.

1. Composite Base-band Video or RCA's (Yellow, Red, White)
2. S-Video or Super Video (S-Video, Red, White)
3. Component Video or YPbPr (Red, Green, Blue, Red, White)
4. HDMI or High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI)

If you are sure that the connections are correct at both ends make sure that the TV set is on the proper input for the DVD player's signal by pressing the input button, source button, or the proper input button as listed (some remotes have a separate button for each input) on the TV remote.

  1. Connect the camcorders yellow, red, and white (Audio/ Video) to the input on the back of the combo called AV1 or Video 1.
  2. Then turn the channel on the DVD recorder to AV1 or Video 1. (A couple channels down from channel 2)
  3. Make sure camera is in VCR mode and hit play on camera
  4. You should see your camera video on your TV and rewind to the place you want to start recording and hit stop.
  5. Put an empty DVD in recorder and hit Rec. Button (usually red)
  6. Then hit play on your camcorder until you would like to stop
  7. Then hit stop on your DVD recorder and each section like this will be another chapter.
Good Luck

DVP-NS77H will not work

You need to make sure that you change the input on the TV. It is most likely AUX1 or video input 1. Look on you TV remote for a button that says "input" or "source". Make sure your DVD player is on, press press play, then hit the input or souce button on the remote.

How to stop Progressive Scan Mode?

Yes, I found the users manual.

To fix it: Press and hold the STOP button (on the remote) for more than 5 seconds.

It worked!

Black and white picture

Try going into player's menu, and set video out or TV type to NTSC.
It might have switched to PAL, or disc is PAL and player is set to any.

Black and white picture only...

You have you're video cord in the wrong jacks. If you are using composite make sure it's in the yellow jack and make sure the player is NOT set to progressive scan.
If you are using component, make sure the cables are in the RED, GREEN, and BLUE jacks, but make sure you have the CORRECT red jack (not the right channel audio out...).

DVD has no color

Check your remote for a button that says, Progressive Scan, or PSCAN. Push it and then play your movie. Should work. Worked for ours. Good luck.
