SOURCE: Bobbin on SE 350

Hi there, this seems to be a common problem with this machine. I have owned mine for a couple months now. The problem seems to be in the threading. The only solution I have found (and others on many forums) is to rethread the machine and the bobbin. I have also re-wound some problematic bobbins as they just maybe did not wind tight enough. Don't delete your patterns, that is not the problem. I have had proffesional patterns turn out a dozen times and then give me problems only to be fine once the machine decided it was threaded properly.

SOURCE: Is the Brother SE 350 made of plastic gears?

Hi, For the most part, any machine that has plastic gears is doomed at a chance for long life because if the gears break and can not be replaced, they don't glue together well. But I have machines that have both metal and plastic gears and the are still going after 10 + years. If you love to sew and take care of the machine, they will reward you with a longer life than expected. It sounds like the dealer just wants you to spend more money. Buy what you are comfortable with don't let them try to sell you something you won't like afterwards.

I think you have to rehoop the fabric. Especially if the letters are large. Hope you have a clothsetter - it makes it so much easier. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Spacing between words

I have the Model 600. In the characters, there is one that looks like an "underline". Actually, it allows a space between words and does not make an underline mark. Some of the embroidery machines use that character to allow a space between words instead of having a "space" character.

SOURCE: Brother SE-350 "The safety device has been activated"

Return the bobbin winding shaft on the top right of the machine to the Left Position. It may be stuck in the middle.
I had this same problem. After an hour or two of fiddling, this fixed my problem.

I would like to find a machine that monograms and does not cost over $500. All I want to be able to do is the traditional 3 letter monogram (larger letter in center) or a child's name, such as Charlotte...

My advice is to try going to a shop that sells machines and gives lessons for free. I bought from JoAnn's and they gave me lessons on it. I bought a Brother for $549 and I am not sorry because I actually know how to use it thanks to the girls at JoAnn's. I would not be using all of the features if I didn't have the hands on instruction. The manual is great for a refresher but nothing beats doing it and someone answering your questions. Think about it before you buy online, you may save a few bucks but in the long run you will be happy to have a relationship with people who care if you have a problem and can help you.

How do you monogram and embroider with this sewing machine (brother XL-6562

Turn the pattern selector to the pattern you want, set the width and length dials to your liking.

Your machine does not do embroidery.

Monogramming

Hi there!

Bit of a con eh?

Is it the Innov-is 700E ? as featured here?
http://www.brothersew.co.uk/brother-innov-is-700e-embroidery-machine-193.html

Most machines can embroider.
The foot advance claw need to be disengaged, then a frame is needed to hold the material flat.
Select a zig-zag stitch, mark out your pattern and away you go!

Basically filling in your marked design with zig-zag stitch.

If it is the computerised version - ask the store for a demonstration.

Hope this helps, If so , rate as fixya!
if not - ask and I'll do the best I can.

Thanks for using Fixya! (I don't get paid for this you know. I just like helping folk)

What kind of thread are you using? When I had this same problem I noticed If I did not have Bobbin thread in the bottom or embroidery thread of the same weight in the bottom it would do this.

Using my monogram machine

The one thing I've found is that when using the fonts stored in the machine, you need to treat each as a separate design. Then you would change the size of the Center Letter. I, too, wish the manual was more instructive. It is much easier to use a separate software program where you can create lettering and monograming. Do you have PED Basic, the program that allows you to download from your computer? That is a very good investment (about $150) and you can get free designs and download purchased lettering from different web sites. There is also a good site www.embroiderydk.com where you can join for a small monthly fee and create lettering and monograming. You also have access to over 7000 designs that you can download free whenever you want. It is well worth the price of $9.00 per month and you don't have to be limited to a bunch of emboidery cards or just the built in designs on your machine. One final idea...go the Brother.com and request more instruction on the embroidery portion.
