Question about Samsung DVD-V2000 DVD Player/VCR
I am having an intermittent problem with my Samsung DVD-V2000 combo unit. When I am loading a disk into the tray the tray will close on it's own. This happens without ever touching the open/close button on the deck or the remote. I am concerned about squeezing and scratching my disks. It seems the vibration of the loading disk into tray triggers it to close sometimes. Is there a way to program machine so tray only closes when the open/close button is pushed? Other than that it has been an excellent machine. Thanks for your help.

My Smasung DVD/VCR Combo stopped reading DVDs because of a dirty read head. It started by only playing disks sometimes, and progressed to never playing disks. I assumed it was a dirty laser lens so I bought a lens cleaner set. Unfortunately my player wouldn't play the cleaner disk.
So I took it apart and cleaned the laser lens manually with some isopropyl alcohol (the clenser that came with my cleaning disk), and a lens cloth (that came with my glasses). Just open the case (starting with the screws in the back) and remove the snap in cross panel that obscures the lens of the DVD portion. Put a drop of cleanser on the lens and gently wipe it with the cloth.
Oh and by the way, I take no responsibility if you break your own player while following my instructions. My own DVD player was far out of warranty at the time I cracked it open.

The solution is to unplug the machine and wait 10 secs. and plug it in again. I have to do this often. another part of the problem may be that some of the blank disks are bad. I got the DVD+R at Staples and about 4 out of 10 were able to be formatted. I am about to try the DVD-RWs.

This could be due to one of several reasons. It may be that the tray is stuck inside the rail. OR it may that the tray drive motor be faulty. You can check by putting your finger on the tray front and pushing the open button: if there is a faint vibration then a click then this is a tray jam. If no vibration is felt then the drive motor is faulty. You state that pushing the button displays OPEN so it seems that the button is ok. Now if the tray is stuck what you can do is open the drive mechanism, check whether there is a rubber band which is involved in opening or closing. Replace that band with a new one from an electronics store. Also clean and grease the rail with alcohol. Please note that ONLY ATTEMPT it if you are familiar with opening drives and are out of warranty. If you are not easy then you'll have to go to a technician. AND if the motor is faulty this would also require soldering.
