Did you replace the evaporator by the direction of someone on here? Your fridge cools the fresh food side by venting cold air from the freezer side by way of a evaporator fan and a duct that has a small door on it. The more you open this vent door, the more it is suppose to cool the fresh food side. The less this door is open the warmer the fresh food side and colder the freezer is. First set the temp setting for both the freezer and fresh food side to mid way. If the evaporator fan is running then the evaporator may be frosted up or ice over and blocking the air flow through the evaporator and will have to be defrosted with a hiar dryer. You will have to check these things. You may have to remove the evaporator cover to check it. This problem is typacal of a blocked evaporator or blockage of the duct that circulates the air. If you find it frosted( not ice ) up badly then there is probably a problem with the defrost system and we well have to troubleshoot it to find the problem. The defrost system fails in three ways. The defrost heater, defrost timer or defrost limit. If it is iced over and blocking the air flow, then you need to check the drain and make sure it is clear. Either the drain is plugged and not draining the water from the melted frost from the evaporator, the ice maker is leaking down onto the evaporator or the ice maker fill tupe is leaking down. Ice and frost form for two defferant reasons. Ice will form only if there is heat present to melt the frost on the evaporator during defrost. if you find that it is the defrost system failer then we need to check it. Let me know what you find. I hope this will help you.

seems to me by the frost that the inside fan is not blowing air across the cooling radiator (evaporator), due to ice build up impeding air flow or the fan motor stalls or not working a t all. Defrost timer should also be checked if the air flows thru inside the fridge.

My Whirlpool Gold Series Fridge is not cold in Fridge part, but is still working in freezer part. What might the remedy be?

Could be a few things. One could be a bad evaporator fan motor in the freezer section. The fan motor will only come on when the light switch is closed so make sure you hold down the light switch when you check it. Could be a defrost timer or defrost bimetal. You will know because you will have ice buildup on the back wall inside the freezer. Also could be icebuildup in the return air duct. They are located under the drawers in the refrigerator.

Should the fan operate all the time in my refrigerator

Most of the time it runs only when the compressor is running. In other words compressor and fans will run together when the fridge thermostat ask for cold and stops together when thermostat is satisfied. In newer fridges some time inside fan (evaporator fan) might PERIODICALLY run without compressor to circulate little cool air to fridge compartment from freezer compartment.

Can you tell me why please?

All the big cooling happens inside freezer compartment. Freezer gives little cool air to fridge compartment. Now when the vent blocks that little cold air cannot go into fridge compartment. Thus your freezer works good but not fridge compartment. Milk goes bad but frozen meet keeps good.....

Vent freeze up either due to defrost problemt, defrost drain line problem, Evaporator fan problem or even can be your damper motor not opening due to unit failure or frozen damper door.

Whirlpool Gold GD5SHAXLQ02- Serial number SP3131657 just stopped cooling. Neither the fridge and freezer seems to be cooling. This unitl is about 7 years old.

Hi!!

Check
temp. control knobs,
Small fan in freezer
Remove freezer back panel (where the little fan is) and check for iced evaporator coil, if so, unplug unit and use a heat gun or hair dryer to melt ice, make sure the air duct going to the fridge is clear. Once this is done, restart unit.

If evaporator is not covered w/ice, then you may have a freon leak, Call a Service Center to get a repair estimate.

Don't forget to rate this post!! Good Luck

The compressor fan not properly working.

You need to replace the fan. It doesn't use an external starter. Part 24 on this diagram is your motor. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=502485&diagram_id=124933#d124933

A periodic moaning noise is coming from my fridge

Change out your evaporator fan motor in the freezer, and while you're at it, toss out any frozen zombie heads you might have stored in your freezer, just to play it safe.

PULLED FRIDGE OUT, REMOVED BACK PANEL, EVAPORATOR

Yes , motor is bad . May not start , next time cuts off . The fan in the back by the compressor , is called the condensor fan motor . I would suggest cleaning the coils in front at the bottom , of dust , lint , pet hair , etc , before replaceing the fan motor . Also , clean the fan blade before reinstalling the motor .

From time to time, my refrigerator(ED28DQXBN00) make a vibrating noise This is not the fan. I clean the evaporator with no avail. So far, it works good.

After the cleaning job, I unplug the fridge to let the accumulated ice melted. This morning I plug it back, Everything is fine now, no more noise.
I appreciate your concern.
Thank you.

Whirlpool gold side by side freezer not freezing but fridge is running

Your fan in the freezer is wearing out. When your food in the freezer is blocking the air, the motor is working too hard. After years of using, it needs to be replaced. Get a repair man in to replace with a new parts. My Fridge/Freezer was totally broken and I found this out because the ice was melting. It got fixed and now no problem.
