Re: i put a photo cd in and it does not play
Go to My Computer or Windows Explorer and find your cd drive. Double click the cd drive. You should then be looking at a list of files on the cd and you can view any of them. You can also drag any of them to your computer for faster access.

I can only guess that the 4Gb PNY USB is full and that ran out of space and that it couls not store all the photos, videos and games. 4Gb is not a very large USB memory stick to store all this data. Photos require a lot of storage space depending upon the number of photos and the size of the photos. Video movies require even more storage space and this depends upon the video resolution and the length of the movie.
Are you trying to load multiple photos at a time? try a single if so. Your photos may be to large for the keychain to support, try a couple jpeg files off the internet or small photo files that come in email. If those load, format the keychain and reduce the size of your photos
if the CD's were written in a UDF format, then you'll need the same program on the Optiplex, or one that reads UDF format (Roxio Direct CD, Nero InCD etc)
If the cds are not in a UDF format, and are readable on the 2300 but not the GX 270 then there may be a tracking issue with one of the drive's alignments.
On the back of a CD-writer or a DVD-writer is a small grid (2 rows) of gold pins.
Each vertical set of pins is labelled: MA(ster), SL(ave), and C(able)S(elect).
Be sure that one drive has a small jumper between the MA pins,
and the other drive has a small jumper between the SL pins.
Was there any software on CD-ROM that came with the DVD-writer,
e.g., software to play DVDs, and software to write CDs and DVDs?
To "play" a DVD, you'll need that software.
To "play" a music CD, Windows Media Player will suffice.
There are three ways to create a Video CD (VCD) that contains your photo stories:
You can obtain Microsoft Plus! Digital Media Edition and view the Photo Story 3-authored WMV file in Photo Story 2 by going to Play your story or create a video CD of your story and then create a VCD.using the Photo Story 2 Video CD-burning feature.
You can obtain Microsoft Digital Image Suite 10 or above and view the Photo Story 3-authored WMV file in the Photo Story that comes with the Digital Image Library and save and burn to VCD.
You can obtain VCD-authoring products that work with Photo Story files, such as MyDVD by Sonic Solutions or InstantCD\DVD by Pinnacle Systems. You can use these software to convert the Windows Media video (WMV) files into files that can be copied to a DVD and played in a DVD player. Note: VCD and DVD-authoring software is not included with Photo Story 3.
