Epson R300 printer cd/dvd tray

Sir i am having a problem with the error message cd/dvd tray not set correctly
i have try your solution, clenning the roller's, clenning the white marks on the tray, but iam still getting the same error message.
please can you help, this si the second printer i have had the problem with.

Does the machine try to bring the tray in before giving the error or does it display error straight away? Does your CD tray have a clear plastic strip on the leading edge or is the type with a thick black wedge design? Resetting the firmware will have no effect.

I had the same problem and after a few uninstall and re-install, what I did is to pull the printer away from the wall, and voila! it works fine.
What happened is I didn't realize that when it pulls the tray in, it pushes out on the back, and as it was close to the wall it couldn't, so I got the error message.

Have you contacted Epson directly? I had a problem with the R200 some time ago and it was down to the tracking of the CD/DVD tray being out of alignment. Due to cost of the printers now it is not worth paying to get them fixed. Lookout for Epson deals where you can trade in your old R300 for a newer model. I still have my R200 still going strong and an RX858.I am sorry I have no firm advice to fix it direct.Mac#

My Epson r300 will print on paper but not a CD. When you put disc in... on the right where the ink levels are, it starts blinking and says CD/DVD guide open, and also the red light stays on.
Check the CD tray if there's any scratches. Also, download the correct driver for your computer. And download EasyPrint module.

I had the same problem. Restarted the printer. Reinstalled the drivers. Scratched my head ... nothing! then I moved the printer away from the wall - problem solved! I can't say that this will work for you but if everything else is working, as it was and still is on mine then it's worth a try.
What I didn't realsie was that the cd tray comes out of the back of the printer when it's checking the alignment. I had inadvertantly pushed the printer back, too close to the wall. Moved it forward slightly and it's fixed.

Epson 300
It sounds that there is a possible hardware failure concerning CD/DVD guide cover. We can try this to resolved that issue:

1. Turn off the printer.
2. Close & open the CD/DVD guide cover for three times and make sure that the CD/DVD tray is not inserted.
3. Close CD/DVD guide, Turn the printer on. If printer is ready, press the maintenance button.
4. Try printing again.

If the above step wont resolved that issue your printer may need to send to a nearest Epson Authorized Service Center.

Hi Chillyslade,

Try this..

Close the CD/DVD guide, then press the font28.gif maintenance button.
If the CD/DVD tray is inserted, remove the CD/DVD tray, then close the CD/DVD guide

Epson R300 CD/DVD Tray ERROR message with Leopard any Solutions?
One of the guys on this site said read the manual over and over again, and he was right.
You must go to system preferences and choose print and fax. Set the default media to A4. Then in the Print CD program when you hit print your will see fifth line down Epson Print CD on offer. Hit the arrows on the right and choose print settings from the drop down menu and then media type and choose CD / DVD. All should then work. It does on mine.

Yes I had a similar problem and in fact returned my printer for a replacement. You need clearance as the CD tray emerges some 2.5 to 3 inches behind the printer. If the tray hits an obstacle it is unable to correctly line up for printing and the trat is rejected
