The Singing Machine STVG-700 - CD Loads, but it does not play

All Lights are on the machine. The CD track LED shows - - . The CD loads, but since I opened the back of the machine, the CD stops spinning and the play, program, forward buttons do not work. No action. The radio and TV work for over the air reception.

I have the same issue. When the cd goes in you can hear it spin for a moment then stop. The track display never changes from "--" but, that's the only thing wrong with it. tape, tv, radio, all work fine. Just the cd player doesn't play. Could the laser be stuck on it's rail maybe?

Where can I get a replacement mike for an SME-399

The mic you have is probably 1/4 inch in diameter and the Boombox more than likely has 1/8 inch diameter mic jacks. RadioShack has adapters for just this problem.

We have a panasonic rx d15, not used it for a while. Put a cd in, but shows as no cd.... won't play. Any ideas please. Have tried different cds, but still show as no cd.

If it has been a while the laser lens is probably dirty and needs cleaning, you can buy a disc cleaning kit and load it in the machine. The other option is to dis-assemble the unit and use a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol being careful to clean it gently. If this fails a new assembly will be needed but this would not be cost effective.

I need the manual for the Singing Machine, sMG-228. Do you know how I can find a pdf file?

Hi,

Unfortunately, the pdf file for this model number is not available online for download. The closest match which can be found is SMG-183.

You can download the manual for SMG-183 by clicking this link:

http://www.singingmachine.com/download/Instruction_Manual/SMG-183.pdf

(You can refer to this manual if both the models have similar features)

For downloading the manual for SMG-228, you will have to contact the manufacturer's customer support department by clicking this link. They will either provide you with the link to download the manual or send you a copy of the printed manual.

Hope this solves your problem. Thanks for using FixYa

No sound from cd player

the laser lens needs cleaned most likely, you can purchace a cleaning disk, or take the unit apart and used a eyeglasses cloth and very gently wipe the lens clean. the lens will be very small and near the motor that spins the cd. when wiping it off, wipe in one direction only. if that doesnt work then the laser has become weak or has quit working

Ive just inherited a panasonic RXDT505 portable cd stereo without remote control or manual and I don't know how to skip cd tracks?

It is much easier with a remote ,but what you have to do is turn the 'jog' dial on the top of the machine wilst looking at the display to select the track, then press the play button to play the track you have selected. I would recommend upgrading to a DT 707 ,if you see on that is,as they have amazing sound quality! much better than the DT 505.
Best Wishes
Jack.

My machine has the same problem and I got the same response from the company. I discovered a quick fix. With needle nose plyers I removed the wire from the corner of the lid that holds the lid open. Without the wire, the lid remains closed and the CD will play. The downside is that its tricky to open the lid. I've been using the piece of wire I removed to gently pry the lid open. I think I will glue a knob or ribbon to the top of the lid to make it easier to open. This isn't a perfect fix, but it was quick & free and now I can use my machine!

Kareokee singing machine SVt 700

The mikes are easy. Generally the wire gets disconnected - so you can either buy a new wire connector or have it soldered - very easy job. Not sure about the screen display problem - good luck

CD player intermittently will not read track when I skip to another track

This might not be a problem with your CD player but with your CD. To check this, if it's easy for you, make a copy of your CD and try it. If the problem is fixed then it was a problem with your CD. If it's not fixed then the problem is with your CD player. Maybe the CD lens needs to be changed or be calibrated by a service technician.
