RAZR V3 - New battery w/full charge drains in 1hr of standby

This battery has been successfuly used with a known good RAZR v3. I know it's good...and only a week old. On the problematic RAZR v3, when the issues first started, we got a "SIM card not inserted correctly" type error and now it will not hold a charge for more than an hour (and that's without making any calls or BT enabled. Also, the outside display has changed to a blue-ish illumination only. No time/date, caller Id, etc, showing anymore.

Do you think I need to "wipe and load" the OS? I'm pretty tech-savy however, have *no* idea how to work on cell phones.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Should I give up the ghost?

Thanks for the ideas but we know it did not get wet and there are no "red dots". I just ordered a new SIM (AT&T is sending for free) so we'll see what happens.

Hi KJF,

What lkelman said is correct. But do not throw it way. Instead, take all parts apart and leave the phone in dry area (as dry as possible) for 2 or 3 months. It might be alive again. My wife accidentally poured water, a lot of water, on her V3 in August this year. The phone then WAS dead. I asked a Motorola technician to check if it was fixable. I was told the same thing. I just left the phone in a draw for 2 or 3 months. Last week, I just gave a try. Guess what, it is alive now. Everything works perfectly without any problems. But there is only one exception. Don’t know for what reasons, the phone can not be charged through a wall plug-in charger. I have 3 other Razr phones. So it is not a big deal for me.

Take out a battery and check if there is any red paper dots on the back of the phone. If you do have a dot that is at least partially red, that means that your phone got wet and it can not be fixed.

V3 not charing

Try a known good charger and battery. If it still doesnt charge then its your charging port on the phone itself. If its ever been snagged while plugged in, high chances are that its the port itself and the best bet is to sell the phone on ebay and get another razr. Theyre fairly cheap now and plentiful. :)

Can i know the usual battery life of moto v3 after of charging...on my,,,its almost 2 hr about continious of use...

Alot of phone calls, texting and game playing will significantly drain the battery. But with out much use a fully charged battery could last up to two days.
