Go to Control Panel on your computer. Then Click on Network Connections. Look for Local Area connection. RIght click on it and click properties.
Look for Internet protocol TCP/IP. Select it and click Properties. Make sure that Obtain IP address automatically and Obtain DNS servers automatically.
Then, check the IP address of your computer by doing a right click on Local area connection again, but this time click on Status then click support. The IP address that your computer should have is in the range of 192.168.1.x

Typically wireless routers have one port labeled WAN and four additional standard network ports. The WAN port should be connected to your broadband device, typically a cable modem or DSL modem. You can configure your router with a direct connection to any of the standard ports connected to your computer. Your router must be configured to DHCP automatically with its connection to the modem through the WAN port. So to repeat, outside world to MODEM, then WAN port on router, the wired or wireless connection to your computer.
Configure the dynex on another computer that is not connected to the linksys router.
Assuming that your linksys is currently setup as 192.168.1.1
Turn off DHCP on the dynex and setup the IP to 192.168.1.2 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1
use a cross over cable and plug each ends to the LAN port on port routers.
you should now be able to ping 192.168.1.2 (dynex router) from your other computers on the linksys router network.
any computer that is connected to the dynex should be able to get a dhcp address from the linksys router.
The most common reason it won't connect is that you must have the router's IP number (the one listed as default IP in the manual) set as the GATEWAY address on your computer network settings and your xbox settings, otherwise they can not talk to the router.
You will need to use two standard ethernet cables. Each computer will connect to each of the LAN ports on the rear of the router. If you would like to connect the two computers to the internet, you will need to connect another ethernet cable, one end to your modem (assuming you already have one) and the other end to your router's WAN port. There are additional settings you need to configure on your router if your ISP requires a login.
First, power down all equipment. Second, plug in power to modem, let all the lights come on and boot up Third, plug in the router power and let that boot up and the lights come on Fourth, Plug in each pc to the ports labeled 1-4 The WAN port should be connected to the Modem also.
Unfortunately, the DX-E402 is not a wireless router, so it can not transmit its signal without a physical cable connecting the router to your computer. If you want a wireless router that can also connect to your ISP, check out the Dynex Enhanced Wireless G Router:
