Question about Xerox Phaser 8500/DN Printer

1 Answer

Cant read front display contrast too low?

The printer comes on and you can see the writing on the display only when the printer goes to power save but it is VERY faint. As soon as you hit the button to wake it up to try to do anything, like change the contrast, you can not see the writing on the screen. The back light does come on.

How bellsouth caller id ci 43 contrast adjustments?

If the display is too light or too dark, you should adjust the contrast of the display.
Press either review button until NO CALL or the number of calls displays. Press and hold the READ button approximately 5 seconds until the display reads CONTRAST followed by a number. Release the READ button and use the review up and review down buttons to change the contrast number. When you are finished, press READ again.

No screen

Hold down the feed button on the front of the printer for a few seconds and watch for the contrast on the LCD panel to start changing. Keep holding it down (screen will cycle continuously from light to dark until you let go) until you get to the desired contrast then let go.

I just replaced my ink on E238 laser printer and the yellow light is flashing. I have been on hold for 45 mins with you help line. Everything still prints but the light is flashing

Hi,

  1. Enter the printer's Configuration Menu. To do this:
  2. Turn off the printer.
  3. Open the front cover
  4. Press and hold the Continue () button.
  5. With the front cover open and the Continue button pressed down, power on the printer.
  6. Hold the Continue button until all the lights cycle.
  7. When just the Error light (!) is displayed, close the front cover. The top four lights of the operator panel should come on, indicating that the printer is in configuration mode.
  8. Print the Configuration Settings page. To do this:
    • Press and hold the Continue () button until all of the lights flash. This page lists the functions within the Configuration Menu. The functions are the non·indented items listed along the left edge of the page (along the bottom as printed from printer). They are also unshaded.

Save this page for possible later use.
  9. Reset the photoconductor page count as follows:
  10. Press and release the Cancel button () to move sequentially from one menu item to another. NOTE: If you get lost, you can press and hold the Cancel button to jump to home state (top four lights on).
  11. Press and release the Cancel button until the Toner Low () light is the only light left on.
  12. Press and hold the Continue button until all of the lights flash.
  13. Then release the button. When the Toner Low light is once again the only light left on, the photoconductor page count should be reset to zero.
  14. Return the printer to normal mode. To do this:
    • Power it off for five seconds and then turn it back on.
  15. Print a menu settings page. To do this:
    • When the Ready () light is on, press the Continue button once. The Ready light will begin flashing and one or two pages will print out.
  16. Check the photoconductor reading on the menu settings page. To do this:
  17. Look for a section labeled Cartridge Information and locate the word Photoconductor under that heading.
  18. Confirm that the photoconductor level reading is OK or close to 100%.
  19. If the photoconductor reading is low, try printing 10 - 20 pages.
  20. Print the menu settings page(s) again. Confirm that the photoconductor level reading is OK or close to 100%.
  21. If the photoconductor reading is still low, refer to the Configuration Settings page you printed in Step 2.
  22. Confirm that Reset Photoconductor Counter is listed on the page.
Also confirm that the light sequence for the photoconductor counter is the Toner Low light.
    • If the light sequence is correct, try repeating this entire procedure again from the beginning to reset the counter once more.
    • If a different light sequence is listed for the photoconductor counter, repeat the procedure but this time, instead of stopping at the Toner Low light (Step 3.2), press the Cancel button until the operator panel shows the light sequence that corresponds to the one listed on the Configuration Settings page. Continue with the remainder of the procedure as before to reset the counter again.
  23. If the photoconductor reading is still low after the page reset procedure has been performed twice, the printer may require service.

The following information provides an Overview of the Printer's available Scan Settings. 1. To enter the Scan mode, from the Printer's Main (Copy) Screen press the Menu button.
2. On the two-button selection screen, press the right-hand Scan/E-mail button. Note: If you press the lefthand "Copy" button by mistake you will be returned to the Main (Copy) Screen. You will then have to press the Menu button again to return to the two-button selection screen.
3. The Scan screen consists of three Tabs, with each Tab displaying a number of feature settings. From left to right, the three Tabs are labeled: Basic Scanning, Scan Options, and Image Quality/File Format.

If you choose 2 Sided, two additional orientation buttons (Head to Head, and Head to Toe) become available for your selection. Note: To support "2 Sided" (Duplex) Scanning you will need to use the Printer's Duplex Automatic Document Feeder. When changing or viewing More... settings, press the Save button to save setting changes, or the Cancel button to exit the current screen without saving changes.
5. After an Output Color is selected from the first column of the Basic Scanning Tab, and the Image Quality/File Format Tab is pressed, a screen is displayed allowing you to choose and configure the settings for Original Type (Text & Photo, Text, Photo), Image Compression (High, Normal, Low), Contrast, File Format, and Auto Exposure.

Options are TIFF/JPEG, JPEG, DocuWorks, and PDF. - Press the Lighter/Darker/Contrast button to adjust scanned image density (lightness and darkness) and contrast. Use the supplied arrows to make the desired setting adjustments. - Press the Image Compression button to set the degree of data compression, used especially with JPEG scans. Options are High, Normal (default), and Low. - Press the Auto Exposure button to enable or disable this scanning feature with the ON or OFF buttons. When changing or viewing settings, press the Save button to save setting changes, or the Cancel button to exit the current screen without saving changes.

No matter how dark the contrast, if the room is dark you will be able to read it well enough to get to the settings -that is unless the display is burned out altogether

try adjusting the contrast, open front door and look under the panel there should be an adjustment screw for the contrast, if it doesnt work I suspect it is the panel itself that is bad.
