New ProwerMate Pro 6750 will not stay running

We have just bought a new Powermate Pro 6750 with a Yamaha engine. It did not have any of the manuals with it since it was at the store for so long and was a self modle. Our problem is that it will not stay running. Oil and gas are full. It starts ok, 1st or 2nd pull and seems to be running ok, and then it will just slow down and stop running.

That probably would have been the problem if this unit had been used before, however, we were the first. I just put the gas in the generator so it had not been sitting with gas in it.....thanks for your help.....any other suggestions?

yes, all seems to be workng ok.....just will not stay running....while it is running have plenty of power.

Almost acts like it is running low on gas....oil level is full and so is gas.

If all the above does not work, then take out the carb adjuster screw and inject some compressed air briefly. It sounds like a float is stuck, which happened often in the old Briggs&Stratton engines.
Basically, it is starting fine with a full float or full amount of gas, then that gas is running out and the unit starves out. So, you have a clogged fuel line-drain tank&blow out line-or the float mechanism is sticking. Sometimes the additives mentioned above will work, but a good blast of compressed air through the carb/fuel line has helped me many times, especially with an engine that has sat for any amount of time or that got some bad gas in it.

Sounds like a problem that is associated with any gas engine that has sat for a long time without running. That's why a lot of folks will use a gas stabilizer when they put up a small gas engine or drain the tank and run the engine until the gas in the carb is used up. I would drain the gas from the tank, run the card dry and then add fresh gas with a little fuel injector cleaner added to help remove any varnish type build up.

Hope this helps....Good Luck Loringh PS Please add rating if appropriate. Thks

One last thought. That generator is a coleman right. Why not go to www.coleman.com and click on the "contact us" and see what they might have to say...

My coleman powermate pro 6750 generator only puts out like half power, after 30 minutes it loads up and runs fine. what causes this?

It would be surprising to me if the engine was running at proper speed while it is not putting out full power. I am not familiar with your particular model so my answers are coming from knowledge of generators in general. If it is running at proper speed then it would have to be a regulator problem. This is assuming that it isn't trying to run in an overload condition and that you are letting it run a little before you put a load on it.

Have a coleman powermate 6750 generator that has quit producing power.

If the engine is running with the alternator not outputting then you must check with the LOAD TRIP switch.
if not remove the load and check if there is output. If not there is fault in tha alternator which might need some consensus.
