We purchased the laptop two weeks ago for the wife. Vista was fine for her needs. Would connect to internet wirelessly no problem at all. When some of her school programs (cd-roms etc) were not compatible i suggested switching to XP. I am far from an ICT expert as I am sure you can tell! An ICT technician in the school I work in switched to XP and said i could download the drivers at home.

Didnt foresee the many problems and have no idea what i am doing. Cut a long story short can I get the vista back on the laptop and will that solve all my problems?? If so how do i go about it and how much will it cost me??

    Thanks for all your help

Hey,
do you have internet on the laptop? there are a few drivers I could try installing over remote support
but you can try this one yourself

Copy this link into your browser addressbar in new window

ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_5720/vista/Drivers/WLAN+Broadcom_v4.150.22.0_Vistax32x64.zip

try runing the setup file if it doesn't work try manually installing the driver from the inf file. if you need assitance with that the remote support would be the best choice.

if you want the vista back, do you have the restore disc that should have came with the laptop? if theres a vista product key in the bottom of the laptop, then you only need the vista install disc. If you ask the tech, they might have a copy to borrow you.

If theres noting else I would appriciate it if you opened the premium page

Wireless adaptor has question mark in device manager

You could go next to the router and plug a network cable into the laptop from the router and get a wired internet connection. Then open the device manager and go to the wireless adapter and let it go out on the internet to update the driver.

Wireless problem in dell vostro 1015

You must used your ethernet cable first or your LAN for us to get internet then check device manager for the check the exact driver for your wireless. check the properties and driver details. You must download driver by link http://www.driver-id.ru/download-f.pci-ven-14e4-dev-4315-subsys-000b1028.html . Then you must install driver manually by going to right-click "my computer"->manage-> device manager-> other devices-> right-click on network controller(or something else, i don't know how it written into english Windows XP) -> Update driver-> No))->install from scpecifying place->Next-> and specify the place where driver on.
Test your wireless , Go to network and and internet connection and connect to wireless to detect your router..
Hope this can help you...

You don't need anything like USB adapters or an external adpater, wireless Network Adapter comes inbuilt in your notebook.

Just download the the wireless driver,

If you are using Windows Vista, for Atheros chipset Click here

If you are using Windows Vista, for broadcom chipset click here

If you are using Windows XP, for Atheros chipset

If you are using Windows XP, for Broadcomm chipset

Your Wireless network will work.

Note : Install the driver according to your chipset and the Operating System.

That's it..
