We have used the auto touch focus and have gotten touch focus error. I have also manually tryed to focus. The blue and red will line up, but the green is off center on the tv. It's like in a wave. The picture has a green wave across the bottom of the screen, creating ghost-like pictures. There is also a fine green line that goes across the middle of the screen. Is this something that can be fixed?

Re: toshiba 57h81 green will not focus
Typically this is a convergence problem and can be repair relatively easy. Refer to this video to determine if you truly have a convergence problem. Also make sure you use your TV's original remote to make this adjustment.

Your convergence has failed and needs to be repaired. Once quick test is to goto your convergence menu and see if you can adjust red and blue. If not its has failed and needs to be fixed. You can call in a repair shop or you can get the parts and instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com and do the repair yourself. Its a fairly easy DIY fix.
This tv have a problems known as a Convergence problems,it dead. The tv convergence board the 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors are dead. This parts must be replaced to solved the convergence board problems. The shop will cost u $300-350 for parts and labors.
The convergence ICs and the six 1.8 ohm 1watt resistors need to be replaced. You can get the convergence repair kit for your model at www.tvrepairworld.com which has the Two Convergence ICs and the six resistors plus the CD with instructions on how to do the repair.
A service manual won't help you on this and yes it's most likely the convergence amps. That unit takes two stk392-110 Sanyo amps. You can substitue with stk392-150's or 180's also... Personally I'd get them from acme sales in florida along with any solder, de-soldering braid, heat sink compound and other supplies you'll need for the job. Acme, because you are assured of getting originals not some chineese knock-offs.
I'd suggest a package of 1.8 ohm/2w resistors, looks like that's what this unit uses in the yoke return circuit and they commonly have failed, and likely the cause for the amp failure. You might also take a meter to any picos in the circuit. F850, 851, 852 and see if any of them are open. If the amp opened you're okay, but if it went to ground it may have opened a fuse.
I will send the manual via Pando - so if you don't already have Pando go there first and download their free program.
