My brother GS2520 sewing machine stopped working it went stiff, I could manually turn it when bubbin windrr was on bit now everything has stopped

Sometimes, there is a ball of thread and cloth stuck between the hook and throat plate. Remove the throat plate (silver plate with a hole the needle goes through), usually there are 2 screws on either side of the plate that need to be removed. Lift out the plate and check for thread and cloth in the area where the needle goes in the hook. If that's not it, have you ever oiled your machine? If the answer is no, then you could get the manual out and oil in the places where they say to. After oiling, move the hand wheel back and forth several times to see if it breaks free.

I think I need a new bobbn case as the thread keeps binding up under the plate

Make sure your needle is threaded correctly and that the needle is not old or blunt.
make sure that the thread and needle size are compatible with the material you are using.Or check with manufacturer.

How can I factory reset my PFAFF 7550 sewing machine ?

Try these suggestions
1. Change the needle--use a needle that's for the fabric being sewed
2. Rethread the machine--top --make sure to use every thread guide
3. try a different bobbin--make sure bobbin is inserted correctly into the bobbin case, & make sure the bobbin is turned the correct way in the bobbin case
4. make sure the thread has not come off the thread take up lever
5. Clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for lint or threads

Top thread keeps snapping on consew 230b

Top thread snapping. Do you have an idea of there it is breaking?

First I would check the needle throat plate and needle. If you have stab marks on your needle plate, examine it closely for a crack. (get out the magnifying glass or jewelers loop) I recently fixed a problem I had with an old singer that kept breaking the top thread by replacing the needle plate. The old needle plate was so damaged it had actually made a knife edge which consistently cut the thread right at that location.

Change your needle and make sure it is the proper size for your thread. Too narrow of an eye can shred the thread causing it to break.

Next, check anything along your threading process that could be catching or snagging the thread. A worn or chipped thread guide can be a real problem.

Also make sure your thread hasn't dropped down below your thread cones and wrapped around the thread spindle. This would cause extra tension that might not be readily apparent.

Good luck

The needle keeps breaking. The needle seems to be hitting something or getting caught when it goes down and then it breaks off. I can't even get the needle to pick up the bobbin thread because it...

Certain stitches you do, require different base plates...by the base plate, I mean the metal piece that the needle passes through when it goes down through your cloth and through the hole provided...This sounds like why it's breaking, I think your needle is hitting the plate under it. It may not be all that obvious, but it wouldn't take much to snap the needle. You may want to check your setting and make sure it's setup to do a regular stitch. If that's not it, then you need to make sure that the needle is in straight, though I believe putting on in crooked is hard to do.
I hope this helps.

How do I adjust the timing on my SINGER CG590C

If you have a zig-zag machine check to see if the needle is set to the correct position. If you are trying to zig-zag, be sure you have the wide holed throat plate on.

BabyLock Proline upper looper thread keeps breaking

I ended up switching the spools of thread around. Apparently, even though I had purchased good quality threads, one of the spools was wound in a way that made the thread loop and twist around. So I put the offending spool of thread through one of the needles and put the needle thread on the upper looper. That seems to be working. By the way, BabyLoc was very unhelpful dealing with this problem.  Thank you!

Singer 3962 Thread Catching Under face plate (catching on position finger)

I had a problem with the thread balling up under the face plate, too.
I have a Kenmore 385 16528000. I don't know if with other brands that this will pertain to them, but this was my solution:
I had the needle in the wrong way! The top part of the needle that is inserted into the machine needs to go in with the FLAT SIDE AWAY from you. So I hope that helps somebody!!

Breaking thread

1. Make sure you are using the correct needle and thread for type of fabric and it is installed correctly. Make sure bobbin is threaded evenly. 2. Tread path - make sure the machine is correctly threaded. Then, with your finger, feel for burrs, nicks or roughness on any metal parts that contact the thread. Open the slide plate, remove the bobbin and inspect the bobbin case and hook. Remove the needle plate and examine the needle hole. Sand any rough areas with fine emery paper and blow away grit. If burrs or nicks remain on the needle, presser foot, needle plate or bobbin case, replace them with exact replacement parts, if they remain on the thread guides, take-up lever, bobbin hook or tension regulator, take the machine for professional service. 3. Loosen thread tension by adjusting tension dial. 4. Clean feed dog, bobbin case, and tension discs. Unplug the machine. Use a small, stiff brush to wipe dirt and lint off the machine head and the needle bar area. Raise the presser foot and the needle to the highest position, open slide plate and remove the bobbin and needle plate. brush away dirt and lint from the feed dogs and bobbin case and remove any tangled thread with your fingers. Use a soft cloth to clean between the tension disc on the tension regulator. 5. Also check tension on presser foot
