The file system on the drive has become corrupt and needs to be re-formatted, if you have any data on the drive try to recover it using "easy recovery pro" before the re-format

No boot device available dell optiplex 170l series

Go to the bios to verify that the computer is recognizing the hard drive and that the hard drive is is listed in the boot sequence. If this is all good your hard drive may have been formatted or erased or the boot record is corrupt and unreadable to the bios. I had a similar problem. reloaded windows and all was good.

I can not access my simpletech FV-U35/1TBCL ext. drive

Okay, this is a very serious problem, since the disk is corrupted there is only one thing you can do, but even if you do it there is no guarantee for success. First you need to go out and purchase a third party recovery software, such as HDD Regenerator or Get Data Back (If needed I can see if I can provide it to you). Then run it for that drive, see what it recovers (This will take a long time). Then after that is done the only other thing you can do is to reformat the drive and see if it works, but only format the drive if you get data back, otherwise you will loose all of the data on the drive. If you need any further assistance, or more detailed instructions please don't hesitate to ask.

Hope this Helps,

Try deleting upper and lower filters in regedit (Registry Editor). See if this helps.

Also make sure that other USB devices can be read on your system.

Double check BIOS settings as well and try to reload default settings. (Make sure USB is on)

I HAVE JUST GOT A WD 120 GB EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE IT WONT WORK, IT SAYS FILE CORRUPT AND UNREADABLE

delete the drive and remove all drivers. reattach the drive ( i asssume it's a usb 2.0 enclosure ) then reinstall the drivers or better yet go out and download the lastest greatest drivers from the mfg. website that makes the enclosure. The bottom line is quite simply "you could pull the wd120 out of the enclosure and it would (if properly jumpered) readily install into your machine. Sounds like the machine and the external interface are not on the same page.

simply install and run this tool and your drive will be properly repaired, as this error code is typicall for data corruption.
