When we watch football, we can't hear the refs on the field. Also during halftime we can't hear the music. Some random things get cut out.

do you have a center channel speaker hooked up? Most voices come through the center channel. I would imagine the surround processor would put the refs on the center channel.

No audio in channell a out put

Check your connectons on the back of the receiver as well as thoes to the speaker. Make sure the wire has not been cut, or pulled apart. Both A and B come from the same part of the amp along with center. The rear channels come from a seperate board. Rotate the switch and see if you hear the sound of the relays falling in the back.

My rca opal m4204 wont turn on

We bought a while back a surround sound system with a SONY Dolby Digital FM Stero FM/AM Receiver STR SE501, a small subwoofer and small centerband spearker. We recently upgraded to two better and larger submwoofer and centerband speark: ICON VC25 CENTER SPEAKER (SN 100987108520533 SW-350 SUBWOOFER (SN 101043809321322 Problem we are having is, when we turn the TV on in the morning, about 10 minutes, we hear a click noise in the receiver, a pop loise in the subwoofer, and the it cuts of the speark. It with click again, cuting the spearker back on, then do it agian and cut them off. It seems once it does this a few times, and comes back on, it stays on the remainder of the day. What is the problem? Do we need to make an adjustment to the receiver, because of the upgrade. We original had moster cables. Do we need to replace them? Hope you can help. Tony (arod13tb@yahoo.com)

5.1 Surround Sound Cutting Out

HI,
Yes you are right man, this problem occurs only with the cable problem, i can explain you, if there is a receiver problem means you won't get the sound its dam sure,
only if there is a cable problem you will get some noise or sound cut off with the speakers, so you please check the cables properly it will be alright.

Sony STR DE835 center channel issues.

it could be your wire. try using different speaker wire. if it still has that same problem, take the cover off and tap on the amplifier.

Stuck!

I was able to fix this issue by opening up the receiver, removing the circuit board that the power button and speaker selector knob contact, and then reseating that board back onto the circuit board it was connected to (the one with the majority of the control buttons).  This completely resolved the problem.  The power button works again and the audio does not drop out anymore.

Sony STR-DE945 5.1 Channels Receiver

Hi, Happened across this forum looking for some remote info. Had a similar problem with my 945...main speaker outputs started to click off & on, no rhyme or reason. Found that the solder joints on the speaker output relays were cold (poor soldering). Actually happend twice, two different relays. Took me a while to find it, reflowed the solder, that solved the problem, over two years ago now. Are you able to dig into the receiver? Do you have a (good) soldering iron and some solder? If not take it to elec. shop and tell them to look for cold joints on the relays.

Speaker Off/On

If I am reading your symptoms correctly, it sounds like you are getting audio to your surround sound receiver, but not your TV speakers? If that is the case, I would be checking for a defective audio output IC and possibly an IC Protector fuse connected to it.
