Dishes not getting clean

My Kenmore Elite Model 15933 dishwasher has gradually been getting worse at cleaning the dishes. It is 5 1/2 years old. When new, we didn't even have to rinse the dishes. Now it is a struggle to get one load completely clean after rinsing. We checked the upper spray arm and it appears to be clean, nothing on the mesh screen below the lower arm, no standing water, just soap still in the dispenser, and a white filmy residue on everything in the top rack. Of course this came to a head after Thanksgiving dinner when I had loads of dishes to wash. I had to rewash everything by hand. I ran a quick wash load with only glasses in the top rack to see if I could see anything, opened the door several times, and tried to see if water was getting to the top rack, but nothing different. Could use some help. This is not the only Kenmore Elite problem we have had - unfortunately we own many Kenmore Elite products and they have all failed.

We tried running the dishwasher again last night. Water comes in and is pumped out with no problem. We think the spray arms are not rotating, although water is coming out of them. Is it possible that this a pump/impellor problem? The pump pumps the sump dry, but not enough pressure to turn the arms?? Is there some test we can try? We have taken everything apart that we can get to short of the motor assembly and nothing is clogged. If we determine that it is the pump, can we replace it ourselves?

We definitely have hot enough water - just replaced our water heater and the unit senses the temperature, the rinse agent dispenser seems to be working - also has a sensor for when it is empty.

our dishes are not fully dry after complete wash. we have water and water droplets standing in the dishes though they are placed facing down in the racks.i need a solution for this to get fully dry condition dishes after wash. the washing is clean though.

Brittgee, there has been a number of service flashes on this model. One that has to do with the upper spray arm assy. Complaint is poor washability; gritty glasses, food redeposited on glasses, especially in the corners. They redesigned the upper spray arm to improve water spray to all corners of the upper rack. The new part number is 8269022. They also redesigned the third level spinner for more consistant rotation and better washability. This was also under a service flash. Part number.8193768. Other reasons for poor wash would be; low water temperature, rinse aid disp. not working, loading etc. Catriver...post back.

NO Clean Dishes

dear sir this may be the problem  Dishwashers usually run on 115-volt or 120-volt power. The water they use comes directly from the water heater, and wastewater is drained into the sink's drainpipe. The dishwasher is not connected to the cold-water supply. For best dishwashing results, set the temperature control of the water heater to no less than 140 degrees Farenheit. Water cooler than this usually doesn't get the dishes clean, unless your dishwasher is a newer model that preheats incoming water. The water shutoff for the dishwasher is typically located below the adjoining sink.
Caution: Because the dishwasher is connected to both the plumbing system and the electrical system, you must consider both systems when working on this appliance. Before doing any work on the dishwasher, make sure the unit is unplugged or the power to the unit is turned off, and remove the fuse or trip the circuit breaker that controls the circuit at the main entrance panel or at a separate panel. Shut off the water supply to the dishwasher at the shutoff in the basement or crawl space under the kitchen.how-to-repair-a-dishwasher-1.jpg

Solution> Please on the sprayer spindles there are little holes that will buildup a soap substance around it. Take a wire and clean them or run vinegar through it on a regular watcher run and that will improve it but not all together fix it.

Do you have a water softener? if so it may need servicing. If your in a rural area and have your own well, you may have what is called red water iron, depending on the amount your softener should take care of this if working properly.

Hiya,
Please clean filter in the bottom of the machine.
Even can clean out the pump. than start a wash empty and as soon as it has filled up put 3 cups of vinegar in the machine. Let it run on hot.
this should fix the problem
Also please take out the arms and make sure all the holes are not obstructed.
This is a simple way of cleaning but effective
