My Sony DLP has WHITE DOTS all over the screen, Whats THAT?

I have a lcd tv that has a few black dots but it may be from a similar cause. During a move the screen was rubbed against i was wiping the screen later and picked a small piece of plastic off the screen. The moral is... the screens are sensitive to the touch and you should be carefull how you clean it. When i bought my tv i also bought a spray of deionized water. There must be reasons behind why we can't use windex or other chemicals on a screen these days.

How Can I Clean The Fingerprints Off The Screen On My TV? spacer.gif To clean fingerprints and greasy smudges off your TV screen, first try using a dry, anti-static cloth and rubbing gently.
Note: Many Samsung TVs come with a screen cleaning cloth. Use that cloth and follow the directions on the package.
If that does not work, get a bottle of ScreenClean screen cleaning solution or similar screen cleaner. You should be able to get it at most regular and on-line stores that sell monitors or TVs. Put a small amount of ScreenClean on a clean, soft, dry cloth, and then rub the screen gently.
WARNING: Never use any type of window cleaner, soap, scouring powder, or any cleanser with solvents such as alcohol, benzene, ammonia, or paint thinner. Never use abrasive pads or paper towels. If you do, you can scratch the screen or strip the anti-glare coating off the screen and cause permanent damage.
Cleaning It Right There are four steps you must take to do the job right:
  • Unplug your TV before you begin to eliminate the risk of electric shock.
  • If you use ScreenClean or a similar screen cleaner, put or spray the ScreenClean onto the cloth. Never put or spray it directly onto your TV screen.
  • Wipe as gently as possible. LCD, Plasma, and DLP screens in particular are fragile and can be damaged if you press too hard.
  • Let the screen dry completely before you plug the TV back in.
Food and DLP Screens Getting sticky food such as peanut butter or jelly off the screen of a DLP TV is especially difficult because the tiny grooves in the screen's surface trap small food particles. In fact, you probably will not be able to remove the food entirely. If you need to remove sticky food from your DLP TV screen, follow the directions above, be patient, wipe gently, take additional time, and understand that you will almost certainly leave some food residue on the screen.

I need to clean my 50 inch dlp hd tv screen. It is at my dads house and he is a smoker. How would you clean the haze from the smoke? Something I could do right away, without having to buy a special...

do not use Windex. Or any other ammonia-based product. Trust me, ammonia and TV's is not a good combination.Chances are, your instruction manual agrees with me too. That Office Depot Screen Cleaner, along with many others out there, is safe to use - gentle on the screen - and will do a great job at cleaning.Usually that stuff will be < $25 for a decently sized bottle that should last about 3 years for a 50" screen that gets cleaned weekly. Most come with a micro-fibre cloth too. Overall not a bad investment. Will work great on the smoke residue on your tv - along with any computer screens and anything else in the house. Definately worth picking up.

What do you clean the led tv screen with?

Hi, just a soft cloth/swiffer is great for the dust. NEVER spray anything on the screen. If you have kids and it is not dust. Use mild soap/or windex. Spray onto a lint free cloth. Paper towls can scrach the screen over time.Buy are ok if you do not rub hard. just put the windex or soap water on the rag/or towl. Also DO NOT set anything on top of the TV you own. It will cause the screen to bow. I have the same one. Mirror is on the top of tv insted of angled on the back. Cool idea. But not to well thought through. Needs more support to hold something.Looks great, and takes up only 10" but the sound not happy with. Pict is great. Hope this helps. Todd toddthetvmd@yahoo.com

My nephew spray windex on my dlp tv and not is in between both screens n it black but you can move the water still with your fingers

Well I'll say this. There has been no damage done yet. The problem is that the windex has wicked up in between the Lenticular screen and the Fresnel lens screen. If you attempt to seperate both screens yourself then I can guarentee you will damage both screens.
Not cheap to replace both screens. The screens CAN be cleaned with a screen cleaner from Screen Clean but the real problem is finding a Highly qualified technician who has done this many times before. The Fresnel lens screen is EXTREMELY soft and has tiny ridges that damage very very easily and you will see permenant black streaks in the picture. Never use Windex,Amonia or 409 and the like cleaners on the screens. When you use a screen cleaner, spray the cleaner on a MICRO cloth (Very Soft) then carefully clean the scree. Like I said, the screens can be cleaned safely only by a Highly skilled technician. The black spots from the windex will not eventually go away. Contact the tv manufacture as they can direct to a authorized service center they trust.

Screen cleaning

Use any lintless cloth. Spray any clener you use on the cloth, not the screen. I often just spray a little Windex (or store equivalent) onto a terrycloth rag and use that.

Liquid leaked into tv

Hi Tracy,
I have the sweetest grandchildren and tey are always willing to help also, so we have to love the children for all their wonderful help. ( NOT !!! ...lol ) But lets not send your son to the adoption web sight just yet. I'll start by letting you know ( in a sigh of releif for you ) that your tv is not damaged forever, although, when the windex drys, you will probably see a dirt stain on the screen, since the windex probably did it's job and cleaned the dirt off, unfortunatly the residue is between the screens. You have 2 layer of plastic screens for your TV. One is a lexan shield and the other is a riffled substance plastic. To seperate the two of them, you need to take the front of the TV off, normally by removing screws from the inside of the TV ( this can be a tricky job and I really suggest you have a pro do it if you haven't worked on TV's in the past ). If you do it, be extra careful not to break the screen or sheild after removing as they can get a bit pricey. When you take them out, they will seperate ( one lays on top of the other, no real trick to them ) and then just grab your windex ( the remains of the bottle that your son left you ) and clean them like you would glass. Of course after you clean the screens, replace them in the oppisite proceedure of taking them apart and wella, all is ok again and junior remians a loving and helpful son. smiling. I hope this helped. Nice day.
