My maytag dishwasher appears dead just after 1 year

No leds, no motors, no operations, I have 120v at appliance input and after the door interlock switch at the circuit board. None of the leds and/or switches appear to work, unit seems dead. circuit board looks ok, no black/burned out spots. I suspect connector/cable to membrane front panel. any other hints?

You probably have a bad main control or console control unit in there. Turn power off to the machine, be sure that BOTH of your door switches are ok. Unplug your membrane to control panel ribbon cable, then put everything back in place. Leave the door open, then turn power back on to machine. (also, be sure the thermal fuse hasnt tripped while your in the console). After re-appling power, close the door, and wait a few, if the console unit is bad, the machine will go into drain mode (you will here the unit start in drain). If no drain mode, then your control is shorted. You dont have to see any burn marks, etc for one to be bad, in fact, 98% of the boards we replace, dont show any signs of problems. Let me know what you find out.

Had same symptoms: DW completely dead.
Power to main board was okay. Turned out that the ribbon cable to the control panel was dirty. Cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol and all fixed!

Soap door doesn't open

Your dishwasher has a wax motor
I think the first thing you have to do is remove the inner door and inspect the soap dispensor assy. See if any of the moving parts are broken. This wax motor is 120V so you can run a cheater cord to it to see if it works, but be very careful when doing this. It will expand the plunger and open the flap. If the wax motor operates with 120V applied to it then you want to see if you have power coming from the timer. It will be the tan wire # 27 on the timer harness. You also want to make sure the spring and pin are in place on the dispenser flap. Your part number for the wax motor is 902899.
You are going to take the inner door off. I believe there are 7 screws. Be careful, the harness to the wax motor will be attached. You want to lift it out easy

The soap dose not dispence

Hi

Dishwashers use Bi-Metal strip to allow the dispenser to open/close. This strip when heat up causes the soap door spring to open up the dispenser. If this strip is not heated doesn't allow the door to open. The strip may not be getting 120V or maybe disconnected. Newer (plastic liner) Maytag dishwashers use a wax motor to open the soap dispenser. The plunger inside the wax motor slowly moves and pushes the plunger and door open. And, if this wax motor doesn't receive 120 volts, then it

Soap dispenser door will not open during operation

Hi

Dishwashers use Bi-Metal strip to allow the dispenser to open/close. This strip when heat up causes the soap door spring to open up the dispenser. If this strip is not heated doesn’t allow the door to open. The strip may not be getting 120V or maybe disconnected. Newer (plastic liner) Maytag dishwashers use a wax motor to open the soap dispenser. The plunger inside the wax motor slowly moves and pushes the plunger and door open. And, if this wax motor doesn’t receive 120 volts, then it’ll not work. Please check the voltage to the wax motor/Bi-metal strip, also inspect the connections to these.
Hope this helps... Please revert for any further assistance.

Power not coming on

When a dishwasher appears to be dead, many times the door latch is to blame. On some models, that latch has a safety interlock switch directly controls the power, so that when the door is opened during a wash cycle, power is removed.

The problem is that the interlock switch can fail or get un-aligned, so the dishwasher does not get power.

Depending on your skill level, you can investigate the problem, using a phillips screw driver to open up the latch so you can see the interlock.
Good Luck!

You are probably not getting enough water into the machine. Replace water inlet valve (solenoid valve) and this should solve the problem.
