Try this Reset All NOTE: THIS IS AN ADVANCED OPERATION AND RESTORES ALL SETTINGS TO THE FACTORY DEFAULTS. NORMAL USERS ARE NOT RECOMMENDED TO PERFORM THIS OPERATION! If your device freezes up press the Menu button and hold for 15 seconds. This is like a power down of the device. Once you perform the reset, the adjustments you made during last operation will be gone. Did you try to update your sansa click on link and download install run connect sansa when asked. (http://mp3support.sandisk.com/sansa/Installer/1082/SansaUpdaterInstall.exe) Download install and follow instructions
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
There is a problem with the device firmware itself..you can try to reset the player by holding the power button down for 15-20 seconds or until it resets....the latest firmware for the e280 resolved much of the freezing issues....also there are two modes for you to use the e280 the msc and mtp.....try deleting in mtp mode....if that doenst solve it...just go to the sandisk site to get a firmware upgrade done...and that would solve the proplems..
