Kenmore dryer times out but never shuts off.

I have replaced the timer and checked the old part and new part numbers and they match. Problem persists.

Bought a new dryer timer. The recommended part for Kenmore dryer model 110.97281100 is WP3398190. The old timer model is M460-G and 3391658. Things do not line up exactly.

From your description, it seems you do not have an exact replacement. See what has to say. Don't be surprised if you get several different answers.

I have a Kenmore gas dryer model 97591220. wont

Disconnect power to the dryer and remove the screws attaching the console rear panel to the console and pull the panel off.

Inspect the wires connected to the timer and ensure a snug fit connection. Clean the connectors and terminals then reseat it several times to ward off dirt within the connectors.

Reconnect power to the dryer and start it; replace the timer (part number 3398195 ) if the dryer still won't stay running. Unplug the dryer and pull the timer knob off the console. Remove the screws securing the timer to the bracket and remove it. Secure the new timer in place then disconnect the wires from the old timer one at a time and connect it to the corresponding terminal on the new timer.

Push the timer back into position on the console and secure the console rear panel in place.

Have a kenmore series 70 dryer. Won't shut off

Yes it deffinetley sounds like you may have a timer issue, if your timer stops and the dryer is running, or if the timer keeps going around and around this will be the problem, however there are thermostats inside the dryer and if you have it set on a HEAT and not a TIMED setting the thermostats won't advance the timer because they havent been set.Hope this helps

Dryer wont shut off when the clothes are dry

Most likely your timer assembly is defective. If you are so inclined, unplug the Dryer and remove the back cover (several screws)at the top section of the back panel. Pull the timer knob off the front panel of the dryer. There are usually a couple of screws that hold the timer assembly in place and a wiring plug in module, unplug and remove. You can go to a local Appliance Parts depot(see yellow pages or internet) and take the old one in to match up the part number etc. It also helps to take your Make/Model/Serial numbers in as well. This part is usually about $30 to $50. Many of these Parts depots can test the old one for you if you ask them to see if this is the actual fault before buying the new one.

Dryer keeps running and timer continues to move around dial.

A common problem, had it happen to me.

Replace the timer control. takes about 15 minutes and the skill to remove screws, disconnect plug from old timer, remove timer, install new timer, connect plug, replace screws and panel, run dryer.

Reply the model number, and I'll get you the timer P/N.

Kenmore Dryer Timer does not advance

Timer resistance is way too low. You may have misswired the new timer. Basically, when the dryer motor is running, the timer motor gets voltage 115 volts.

Kenmore dryer

Jeff, almost sounds like a timer issue, but I was fooled on this once. Under the consol is a inline resistor from the main plug. If this resistor is bad, dryer keeps running in timed dry. Part number for the resistor is 3401076. Look it up on the web so you know what it looks like. Just splices in.. back.
