Wrong, Windows XP will load plug and play drivers for new found devices, but they may not work properly or not at all.

A8VE-SE won't recognize SATA HDD

If you are trying to install Windows XP then -
The problem is that XP installation CD does not have a SATA driver, unless you have a SATA drive on a disk etc. and can install the driver when XP asks for a hard drive driver then, XP cannot detect the hard disk and therefore won't install XP. The FIX. Go into the BIOS and disable the SATA drive (enable IDE emulation), this will make XP think it is a IDE/PATA hard disk. Then you can install XP normally. When Windows has been installed then install all the device drivers (including the SATA driver), then shut down and boot up and got into the BIOS and enable the SATA drive.

Requesting scan - scan request failed

I've had the same problem occasionally when re-installing. There are a couple of ways to solve this.

1- Right click properties on "my computer" (or open "system" in control panel). Bring up the Hardware tab. Click on "device manager" button, then scroll down to see if there are any devices with a yellow exclamation point. if one is "scan" then the windows did not yet install it. (This can happen if windows installed the print drivers automatically before you actually installed your printer driver. Remember that even if the printer is turned off, it will still be recognized by Windows unless you disconnect the usb cord). Solution: delete the highlighted button. Then restart your computer. If you have already run the dell installation disks, windows should recognize and install the software. Be sure to have your disk inserted in the cd drive when you restart. Otherwise:

2- use your dell installtion disks to uninstall, then re-install. Hope it helps. :)

Dell dimension 3000 series won,t install drivers from install disk after fresh install of.windows xp sp2 .It is like the pc is trying to read the disk but nothing happens. This is the drivers and utilities...

Hi - You're right. What happens is Dell wants you to load the original disk and you didn't. You went to a different operating system. Now you have to go to the DELL SITE. No problem really if you just think of their website as another DISK.. Just look around - download what you need and put it on a thumb Drive - then transfer it like you would any other drive.
Go here and your on your way. It is a little HARDER at first - but you get all the latest updates which the original disk never had.

I got a new computer and I need to install my

You can download the drivers from Dell's support pages for some OS's (I see a WinXP, Vista 32-bit and Win2K.) If your new computer came with Win7, you may not have much luck unless you use a work-around. Dell's site indicates that the Vista driver doesn't work in Win7. You can try the compatability mode to install the driver (download, extract the files to a new folder, find the .exe file and right click on it. Choose Properties and then the Compatability tab. Check the box for Run as and choose the correct OS version. Then right click again and choose Run as administrator.) Alternatively, Win7 Pro and Ultimate can run a virtual XP computer (on some computers). It takes two downloads and installation of the programs from Microsoft. Then install the printer using the XP driver from Dell.
The drivers are available here: (long URL)
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?os=WLH&catid=-1&dateid=-1&impid=-1&osl=EN&typeid=-1&formatid=-1&servicetag=&SystemID=PRN_ALL_A924&hidos=WW1&hidlang=en&TabIndex=&scanSupported=False&scanConsent=False

I hope this helps.

My computer won't recognize (wirelessly) to my HP Deskjet

I'm sure you've tried installing the software with the printer detached...but if you haven't, that's the first thing. Another thing that's really common is that Vista may want to install its own drivers and they may not be compatible. Go into device manager (start-menu, right click on "computer", go to properties). Click on the hardware tab and let's get into device manager from there. Look for a yellow symbol with a ! in it. You can update drivers from there, navigating to the disk that you installed from...you'll likely see something that says "drivers" and either Vista or XP (If there's no Vista, try XP drivers anyway. Hope that works...

Cant get network to recognize the cable connection

XP doesnt install the right device drivers for the NIC card (LAN card) if you have the origianl Device utilities disk, you can insert it and find those drivers (they will be checked) if no disk, use another pc and go to support.dell.com and enter the tag# locate the networking device drivers and its going to be a Broadcom 47xx driver. if not that try others till it works.
