Question about NetGear RangeMax WPN824 Wireless Router (WPN824NAR)

1 Answer

Connecting to the internet via wireless router

An additional computer tried to get on internet through my router and it stops and asks for a password. I have my laptop on internet through same router and it never asked for a password, and works fine. On the back of my WPN824 it says admin and password is the default. How does this get fixed? I have never had to use a password before.

How can I know my router's security password?

Not quite clear as to your problem. Are you trying to access the web-based configuration page for the router (for which you need an administrator password)? Or are you trying to make a wireless connection to the Internet via the router (for which you need the wireless security key)?

Those are two separate passwords, and you may be able to retrieve them both. The administrator password would be stored in the computer that was used to configure the router. The security key should be in the computer which configured the router, as well as any computer which made a wireless connection to the router.

If the passwords are stored, you should be able to retrieve them by installing some additional software.

For the computer that configured the router, download and install this program:

For a laptop that connected to the router, download and install this program:

You have to configure password for WAP to access the network. For this go to router management and configure the WAP password.

Revert back for more assistance.

take note of gateway address
type this into a web browser
it will ask for username password try these:
admin/admin
admin/blank

Wireless Internet stopped working. Can't reconnect.

If restarting the router and restarting computer did not work (unplug both power cables), then you need to log into the router and check network settings.

To log into router type the router IP on internet explore bar, then enter user id and password.
You find details on how to do this, IP and passwords listed on the owner manual.

If wireless security settings on router are fine, then you can reset router to factory default using the pinhole switch. You will need to enter all your broadband settings to have the router working afterward.

Unable to connect Ipod Touch to Internet via Wifi

When the iPod touch asks for your Password enter your Wireless access point"' "Network key" instead of a password.

The key is shown when you address your WAP at 192.168.1.245, click on the Wireless tab, and then select Wireless Security
