Question about Refrigerators
Recently our 8 year old fridge has started making a noise. Every time it shuts off it makes a rather loud and rapid ''clunk, clunk, clunk'' noise. It seems to be working okay, but I'm afraid that soon it won't be, or that it's not operating efficiently. Plus the noise is quite annoying.
The compressor on your fridge is mounted on rubber grametts and inside the dome the internal parts the do the pumping of the refrigerant are mounted on springs. When a compressor gets old some people complain about two much vibrating, this could be the rubber grommets the support the compressor. When one of the support springs inside the compressor is broken it will have a distinct rapping sound when the compressor shuts off. There isn`t anything you can do about this, short of replacing the compressor. It will eventually get worse untill something is seriously broken inside the compressor and the compressor will die. You may want to consider replacing the compressor now or purchase a new fridge. You will need to consider the cost of both and the age of the fridge" Is it worth repairing?". You can actualy find a repair company in your area from this site if you like, and compare the costs.I hope I have helped explained the problem well enough for you. I will help you as much as I can.
