Disguard the above soloution, that only works if you have a recovery partition and you have a recovery disk!!! what you need to do is get into the bios, try these keys until one works: try F2 first, if that doesn't work try DEL or Esc, when you get into the bios you need to change the boot option to boot from cd as first boot device, press F10 and select ok, y or yes, make sure the disk is in the drive because the system will reboot and you will be able to recover the system, repeat the steps i gave you to change the boot order back to the hard drive after you have completed your recovery

good luck

Is this a trick question? Or are you serious? You reboot by shuting it off and turning it back on. or using the ctrl, alt, and delete buttons at the same time.
You can try this too.
Using the F8 Method

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. When the computer starts you will see your computer's hardware being listed. When you see this information start to gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with the Windows Vista Advanced Boot Options.
  3. Select the Safe Mode option using the arrow keys.
  4. Then press the enter key on your keyboard to boot into Vista Safe Mode.
  5. When Windows starts you will be at a typical logon screen. Logon to your computer and Vista will enter Safe mode.
  6. Do whatever tasks you require, and when you are done, reboot to go back into normal mode.

I have an old packard bell pc and it needs to be rebooted but i haven't got the original floppy reboot disc how can i do it without the disc ?

By rebooted, I assume you mean reinstalled? You cannot reinstall a PC this old without the operating system disk. New PC's have a utility partition that contains the reinstall package. You will have to purchase that OS from ebay or some other site.

To reboot you just power it off and on.
To reinstall Windows you borrow from someone an install disk with the exact version of your installed Windows and use it and your personal key - the one from the label on the case. Then you install the drivers which you can download from here

Computer screen reads "reboot and select proper boot device, or insert proper boot device"

Do you have a USB drive attached or a disc in the dvd drive that may be causing a problem?
If not your MBR may be damaged.
You can fix this with a windows disc, just google "fix MBR"
If you dont have a windows disc, you may be able fix it with this site http://www.softwaretipsandtricks.com/forum/windows-xp/27414-repair-mbr-without-xp-cd.html

There are actually 2 ways. The first is after you have turn your PC on and while it's trying to reboot press the F8 repeatedly and select Safe Mode. So it means that you will be using Safe Mode to boot up. The other way is to use the OS disc(e.g Windows) that you have.

Try hitting ALT+F10 at startup. I believe that is Acer's recovery key sequence. Let me know if you have continued problems.
