When ever i try to burn cd's on my Acer Ferarri 3000 the laptop shuts down. I cant turn it back on unless i take the plug out the socket. I've tried everything i can think of. it used to work fine, i got a virus and had to re-install Windows. I'm running Windows XP Pro. Any help would be useful. I've been trying to fix this for the last 7 months.

Unplug the computer, hold the power button down until the laptop shuts down, then remove the battery. Plug in the charger, and try powering up. If all is okay, shut it back down, unplug it, and reinstall the battery. Then, plug it in and let it fully charge. Restart it, plugged in and with the battery installed. Good luck.
What your saying is you removed your Recovery Partition? Have you tried a Full Factory Recovery? Remove ALL media DVD, CD, USB, etc. Shut down, unplug, remove battery, plug in , Power on the laptop. Immediately tap the "Alt" and "F10" keys, repeatedly.
Try upluging it, remove the battery, then press and hold the power button for 10 full slow seconds. Then wait 1 minute, put battery back in, plug back in and turn on. It should now come on and work fine.
Hibernation usually happens when the battery goes flat. It may have nothing to do with the software. Please ensure the laptop is well connected and the battery is charging. And then try to turn it on again. If I'm wrong and the application you purchased is actually a malware in disguise, then I'd suggest you try to boot with a recovery CD and then uninstall the application. Unless there is physical disc damage that the malware caused it should be able to turn on. Hope it all goes well. If my ideas help you, please do rate me. Thanks
I think due to Battery your laptop should not be slow . But as per the RAM in your laptop you need to add some more RAM with WinXP and SP3 with the type of Configuration it will be slow with or without power.
Thats called the blue screen of death. Do you hear any clicking from the hard drive at all? Have you gotten it wet? Have you dropped it? This most likely is a result of hardware failure but can also be caused by malware. Do you have another computer with CD burning capability? You could burn a few hardware tests onto cds and test the memory and the hard drive. google memtest86 for a memory test and DFT or Drive Fitness Test for a hard drive test utility. These have to be booted to by the laptop.
try sensing if your cpu fan is working, it is under the power switch side, you can see small exhaust slots, put your hand beside it and feel if some air is coming out when you turn on your pc.
When you turn you pc on and only orange light blinks, it means that no power was getting into it, it blinks because no electrical power is coming from your power adapter and the battery is drained. Check your power adapter cable, this is the very cause why your pc is shutting down. usually the wire from the adapter to the pc is faulty.
What is it doing. Are you trying to burn a dvd movie, what software are you using to try and burn it. If you are trying to burn a movie, you wont be able to unless you have the special programs to remove the copyrights and possible compress the video files to fit on the blank dvd. Most burning software wont allow buring of movies due to copyright reasons unless you do what i stated above.
