No. The icemaking capability is set by the evaporator temperature. Check the condenser is clean and clear

SOURCE: Kenmore Coldspot w/Ice Maker Not Making Ice

hi LOP7,
In most cases you can easily solve this problem.
step one would be to make sure your freezer is getting cold enough. If you have icecream in your freezer is it frozen solid or is it soft. Most icemakers cycle around 0 degrees and if your freezer is not getting to 0 then it will not cycle and it will not make ice.
Step two would be to make sure you icemake is cycling. To do this simply lift the little shut off arm on your icemaker and wait about an hour then go back to the icemaker and drop the arm down. The icemaker should start going through a cycle. You should notice the arm slowly begin to raise and the ice dispencer fingers will begin to turn. Then you will hear it call for water. You may hear a humm.
If the freezer is cold enough and the icemaker is cycling that only leaves the inlet valve. replace the valve and enjoy the ice.
If the freezer is cold enought and the icemaker does not cycle, then you have a bad icemaker. Simply replace the icemaker and viola.
Third if the freezer is not cold enought 0 defrees. Then you may have a defrost problem. In this case post more info and I will be happy to help. Good luck [email protected]

SOURCE: ICE CUBE MAKER SMELLY ICE CUBES

Hello margrek
Welcome,

YOU SAID, YOU HAVE KENMORE ELITE BOTTOM FREEZER WITH ICE MAKER THE ICE CUBES SMELL HORRIBLE ALWAYS, I EVEN TOSS THEM OUT EVERY FEW DAYS, STILL SAME PROBLEM

Ice has bad odor and taste.

1• Ice has picked up odor or
flavor from strong food stored
in refrigerator or freezer.
2• Water running to ice maker
has poor taste or odor.
3• Ice not used frequently enough.
4• Cover foods tightly. Discard stale ice. Ice maker will
produce fresh supply.
5• Add filter to water supply line. Consult a water purifying
company.
7• Discard stale ice.

SOURCE: Ice maker is making hollow ice cubes, some only half frozen

Most ice makers have an adjustment screw to control the cube size. Its usually hidden behind a plastic panel on the front of the ice maker. A quarter turn either way and some trial and error testing should get you pointed in the right direction to your ideal ice cube.

I have a Kenmore Elite side-by-sr ide refrigerator Model 106. The ice making system is putting too much water in the ice tray, making the cubes too big. These large cubes are clogging up the dispenser. ...

With out the full model number it is hard to say. Most 106 model referigators have a modular ice maker. If you take the cover off of the front of the ice maker and look on the right hand side of the motor module you will notice a small plastic adjustment screw. If you turn this screw you can adjust your water fill time to the ice maker.

Most likely ice maker is the problem and would need replacing. Water valve is letting to much water in but the amount of time solenoid stays open is controlled by the ice maker

Ice maker is working very slowly and does not produce complete cubes (thin). I have tried the Icemaker on both normal and max output settings with the same results. Others\wise the unit works great....

This is usually caused by low water pressure from the water supply or a clogged strainer in the water inlet valve where the water supply comes in. OR
look for an adjustment behind the plastic endcover with a +/- on it. + is more water.

2002 Kenmore coldspot 51262103 model number Just hooked it up to water and it runs slow and the ice maker is blinking red.

Not sure if I resolved the issue, but after defrosting my icemaker, with a blow dryer for a second time. It seems to be working fine again.

Is it possible maybe there was some ice build up and every time it added more water for the ice cubes the water level was to high making it impossible for the auger to push the ice thru?

IF FREEZER IS A THE CORRECT TEMP/ O-10 DEGREES, THE FREEZER IS NOT THE PROBLEM. THERE IS A THERMOSTAT IN YOUR ICE MAKER, IT IS NOT ADJUSTABLE. IT IS A SMALL BI METAL SWITCH THAT TRIGERS ICE MAKER WHEN IT REACHES ITS PROPER TEMP. THE PROBLEM IS, IT IS TRIGERING IT AT TO LOW OF A TEMP.NOT ALLOWING THE ICE TO FREEZE SOLID. IF YOU CAN HANDLE IT CHANGE BIMETAL SWITCH OR CHANGE ICE MAKER ITSELF.
