Question about Jenn-Air SVE47100 Slide-In Electric Kitchen Range

5 Answers

Jenn air electric range 20+ yrs. old. Fan on continuously.

Turned off fan after using but it stay'ed on! Replaced switch, motor stay'ed on regardless of switch position. Took apart new switch, rocker moves copper contact correctly to make and break connection. What next? How to get at motor...replace?

tried the oil. Fan runs great but still won't shut off. All wires I can see in junction box in original condition and no visible chafing etc. Rocker switch just seems to have been, "Taken out of the loop".

  • cfatzinger Nov 15, 2008

i am assuming that the rocker switch in the open position breaks the contact and the fan should be cut of current. in the closed position the electrical loop is complete and the current should flow to the motor. But if I remove the rocker and pull off one of the wires, the fan continues to run. That's probably why the new rocker switch didn't fix the problem.

Tried the oil. Can see no fray'ed wires. Fan runs even if one wire is pulled from rocker switch.

  • cfatzinger Nov 15, 2008

Wireing dia. in wireing unit. too charred but many interconnects. The fan hot was conn. to many other things and one was the oven selections. hmmmm. when oven is turned to, "Accl Clean" the fan rocker is over ridden and runs continuosly. oops. sorry. I must have turned it during the day's cooking and I've never used the accl. clean so that was news to me.
    thanks for your help today.
    sincerely, craig

Was going to suggest checking that setting, but guess you found it already. Glad you were able to find the problem.

If you have a diagram, you can trace where the power is coming from. it could have not run from the rocker switch.

does it has a Relay or a PC board?

if it does, then it could be a welded contact issue. take all power off and see if there is still continuity on the line side and load side of the relay .

you may need to un weld the contacts, clean it and you can probably use it again.

tnx 4 using fixya,

Off the unit completely and put some oil in the motor area and sides leave it for some time.then ON the unit and check out.is it working properly or not.also check out any wires getting loose somewhere or getting cut somewhere before making it ON again.

I have a Jenn-air electric stove model S125, which is about 20 yrs old. Lately, the ventilation system quits after about 25 minutes. I usually turn it on manually, but it goes on automatically during...

The answer your provided by email only confirmed what I suspected -- that the vent system was probably overheating and would cut out at a certain point.
Thank you for fast reply. I may have to get a pro to confirm this, as I'm an old lady with NO skills for taking stove apart and installing new vent motor.

Ventilation system faiure

Sounds like the fan motor is overheating and shutting off . A long duty time  for a motor that has never been disassembles serviced and cleaned. If it is easy to do, Dissassemble and remove the motor. Most motors are available at electric motor supply outlets.Yes even tiny ones.  Replace same ,clean fan . Reassemble.

Jenn Air Range SVD48600W (Circa 1998?)

ja_question.gif Why are the oven indicator lights flashing? Answer: When power is first supplied to the appliance, a flashing time will appear on the display.
If a flashing time appears at any other time, a power failure has occurred. Press Cancel, and reset the clock if needed.
When the oven is not in use, the display shows the time of day.
If the indicator lights keep flashing after you have tried to reset the controls, then you may need to contact service person.

Jenn-Air electric range

my jen-Air has a problem with it continuing to beep. Ive tried to get it to stop by pushing all the buttons. When I pust the off/cancel button it just keeps beeping. Tried the stop timer button and same thing. When I turn on either the bake or convection bake button it automatically just shuts off by itself. It is approx 10-13 years old. HELP, or please tell me to get a new one.
