Question about Ryobi 30 Cubic Centimeter Curved Shaft Gas Trimmer
I have a Ryobi weedeater brand new and it starts hard but will start however when I push on the throttle it starts to die. I have carefully mixed oil with fuel and the problem remains. The only way I can get it to run is to use push the start/run lever which makes it accelerate and run a little bit better.
Well take the spark plug out take some WD40 and give it a shot inside the unit, remember to keep the unit level when hitting the throttle and allowing it to warm up for a few minutes before use also make sure where your choke lever is. also when starting I start it on the ground like most manuals state and leave it idle on the ground for a minute before picking it up and then when I pick it up I make sure that the gas tank is tilted towards the ground so there is no room for air to get into the filter causing and disturbance while the unit is warming up.

Unless it has a tag or decal on it saying it is a 4 cycle then it uses mixed gas/oil at about a 50:1 ratio. Straight gasoline will freeze the piston in the cylinder in mere minutes.
