Frigidaire frs26zsh ice dispenser problem

The icemaker makes ice, but will not dispense it. The spiral rod (auger?) turns, but the blade in front of the plastic housing looks as if it might be missing a clip that holds the blade tight against the housing. I have inserted a screw partway into blade beside rod, but it is not secure and it works off...is there a clamp or clip...or something that is missing? Can I glue or solder the blade to the housing? I have done that. I can hand turn the plastic round thing up next to the inside front of the basket and ice will fall, but it is not turn on its own. I cannot see that anything is broken.

  • miminew Nov 15, 2008

There is no rust. And, the motor is running and perhaps I misinterpreted that for the auger turning. So if the auger is not turning, should I just go ahead and replace the ice maker?

Well with the new information, try removing all of the ice and cleaning out the dispenser, then put a few pieces back in and try using it and see if it will dispense any. If not, open it up and see if there is anything stuck or not moving that should be and then let me know what you find

Is the auger motor running when you press the button? If so, then something is definitely broken, if not, then either the motor is done or there isn't any voltage at the motor which you will need to diagnose. If you have a voltmeter, then I assume you know what to do, otherwise just ask

yes, you just need to replace the auger motor if its not working and still receiving voltage

OK, in that case, it could be that the ice chute door is frozen or the chute door solenoid is rusty. Look for little rust stains or drip stains on the recess on the freezer door where you put your glass to get ice and water.

It could also be that the micro switch controlling the dispenser is stuck in the 'closed' or on position. If you are familar with fridge repairs, read on, or else, best call the repairman..

First get yourself an ohm meter or multimeter for testing purposes. Remove the hinge cap on the freezer door and disconnect the harness if you haven't already done that. Remove the drip tray from the dispenser area and you should see a couple of screws holding the frame on the freezer door. Carefully remove the frame from the door face because there is a ribbon connector attached to it. You can either disconnect the ribbon or have someone hold it out of the way for you. You should now have a fair view of the dispenser paddles. One controls the water and the other the ice dispenser. The micro switch for the ice dispenser has a brown and slate coloured wire connected to it. Remove at least one of these wires and test the switch with an ohm meter - you should have an open circuit when the paddle is not being pressed, if not then the switch is stuck. You could also visually inspect the switch to see if the button will push in and out. If the switch is ok than you could have a bad relay board, but I would check the switch out first.

    Hope this helps

Ice aker ks, but does not dispense ice. fgidaire gallery, sde by side

Good Afternoon friend, thanks for your inquiry!

I understand that your icemaker is not dispensing ice in your Frigidaire refrigerator. I would recommend checking the dispenser chute, if there is a blockage of ice within the chute it would not dispense. When you press on the dispenser do you hear a noise? If you do that could be the auger trying to push the ice out, if you do not hear a noise it sounds like it be a potential problem with the dispenser or control panel. I would seek assistance from a technician to come out and properly diagnose your refrigerator. I hope this helps. -Matt

Whirlpool side by side refrigerator

Could be blocked up in the shute. remove all ice from the freezer and check that the ice shute (leading to the dispenser outlet) is clear. Let the freezer create a batch of ice (normally about 4 to 5 hours) and see if it dispenses then. If not , it could be a failed auger motor. That is the main corkscrew looking drive which pulls the ice into the shute. Check the icemaker in the freezer, and look for a button on the side or underneath the icemaker. Most manufacturers put one there to test the icemaker. Press the icemaker ice dispenser button and see or hear if the auger is turning.

I have a GE Profile refrigerator, Model PFSS6PKWBSS, with icemaker on door. Water is collecting under Deli-draw and leaking down freezer door onto floor. How do I fix leak?

Hi

Try and access the ice dispenser assembly and check from where the water is leaking. You would need to disassemble the ice dispenser and ice maker to check this. The ice dispenser is located in the upper portion of the freezer compartment. This assembly stores ice made by the icemaker and dispenses ice on demand from the door dispenser target switch.
1. Remove the upper ice bucket tray.
2. Slide out the ice dispenser assembly.
3. Remove the ice cube solenoid linkage Phillips head screw and slide the linkage back.
4. Remove the ice crusher cover Phillips head screws (2) and remove the cover.
5. With a pair of pliers, twist off the backing plate tabs located on either side of the crusher.
6. With 2 small flat-blade screwdrivers, unlock the ice crusher locking tabs located at either side of the ice crusher.
7. Lift the ice crusher out of the bucket.
8. Remove the ice crusher back cover.
9. Remove the locking ring from the ice crusher auger.
10. Remove the plastic nut with a pair of pliers by turning it clockwise.
11. Remove the spacers and blades. The blades are numbered for reassembly.

Icemaker--
The icemaker is located in the upper rear of the freezer compartment and supplies ice to the dispenser tub.
1. Disconnect the icemaker cable connector.
2. Remove 1/4-in. icemaker mounting screws and slide out the icemaker.
This refrigerator is equipped with an Electronic Icemaker.

Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

Icemaker is making ice but the ice dispenser is not working

Check the ice storage container. The ice dispenser will not dispense ice until the first supply ice has dropped into the ice storage container.Remove excess ice from the back of the ice container. Make sure ice cubes are not jammed between the ice maker and the back of the ice container.

---------------------

The auger won't engage or turn to dispense ice.Remove the ice bucket and with a hair dryer warm up the inside where the fork is that turns the auger in the bucket and try it and if this does not help then you will have to replace the auger motor ,, chances are the motor is just froze up .--------

If there is nothing jammed then try this./Remove the ice bin out.And then clean the ice bin.

Rotate the auger with your hand.If its hard then there is problem with auger motor. If the auger is not rotating fine then its faulty auger motor or the auger motor is frozen,if you notice ice getting collected there.

---------------

Take a hair dryer and blow hot air on the auger motor for few minutes.Take care you dont blow hot air continuously.

But if that is not helping then disconnect auger motor connecting wire wait for 2 minutes clean the connector and reconnect the connector back and see.If that is not helping at all. Then, replace the auger motor.

Hi,
You have a cube of ice jammed between the rings of the auger...this stops anymore ice from moving out of the auger...
remove ALL of the ice from the tray and the auger and then let it refill... then it will work again...

Frigidaire FRS26ZSH -ice & water dispenser panel lost power

I think you will need to unplug the pin plug under the cover at top or bottom hinge. Check the voltage and if OK leave unplugged until you can remove the dispenser and I will try to help you from the power source. Sounds like a short in the board and related to the light socket. The fuse only stopped the short from doing further damage, You may need to locate the short before replacing the fuse or board. I have looked over the wiring diagram. If you find the short without my help just be sure to replace the fuse with the correct size. The only things are the chute heater or something in that area of the board went to ground. Do you have a voltage meter? Contact me later when ready, Sea Breeze

Icemaker only dispenses crushed ice

Your selector solenoid is not working. Next to the auger motor there is a selector. You will see a plastic peice in a hole to the left of the auger.....Try to move it up and down. If it won't move it is more than likely frozen in one spot. Try to defrost it. If that does not work then replace the solenoid.

It should hook in on the front side of the dispenser towards the door first and then at the back as you would slide the tray in. Check to see if the grooves line up in the back where the motor sis to turn the wormgear. good luck

FRIGIDAIRE SIDE BY SIDE ICE DISPENSER

Have same or similar problem. MY problem turns out to be that the Auger turns fine, but there is a little metal blade that attaches to the end of the auger and transfers the spin action into this auger "hopper" (for lack of a better term) which actually accepts the ice that has been moved from the back of the ice bucket by the metal auger and then dispenses the ice into the hopper which falls into the glass. the issue is one of crappy design. It turns out that this little blade has a rectangular opening in the middle that the rectangular end of the auger fits into. If this rectangle opening gets stripped (as mine has done, and ALL are likely to do) then the auger spins, the ice is moved forward but none are picked up by the hopper, and none (or very few) fall into the glass.
Everyone should check to see if this is the case. If so you may need to order a new blade, or a new auger, or a new refrigerator.

Good Luck!
