Tv will shut off while viewing. standby light flashes.
I use cable vision and when I turn on the tv it works fine for quite awhile then just turns off and the standby light flashes. After several attempts to turn on, it will work. This can happen several times a day but than it will work Ok for a few days and start again. Cablevision has checked out their box and reloaded their software but could really find no problems. Any ideas on what the problem might be???.

Type in this link address, [without brackets] either to Google Search Box or into the Address Bar to your browser and press Enter. It has all the details about blinking codes of Sony Sets.
Blinking of standby light in Sony sets are fault indication. You just count the exact number of blinks occur at on instance, say, after you switch On and OFF by its front panel power switch, not by remote control hanset. Just count it atleast 4 times, count it keenly and inform it to me, and let me reach to the nearest falult point; or sometimes to the exact point. OK.
Depending on the age of your tv, if you hear a rapid clicking, it seems like your ballast is starting to turn on your tv but it's not able to. (1) Check your lamp, (2) reset the lamp timer, (3) make sure the cover panel is all the way. the positioning sensor might not be detecting the cover all the way in. Personally I think you're experiencing a ballast problem.
When the set is turned on, the computer senses that something is wrong and immediately shuts the set back off. The standby LED will then blink a code, a certain number of blinks, to indicate exactly why the set was shut down. It is possible that your audio output IC is shorted, as this would make a pop or strange noises in the speaker just before the set shuts down, which it does to protect your speakers from burning up. The set should be looked at by a qualified tech familiar with Sony TV's.
