Onkyo TX-DS575 - intermittent audio

My Onkyo TX-DS575 will intermittently have no audio from any source. I have found that If I repeatedly cycle power, it will eventually have audio and will work fine for as long as I leave it on. Any Ideas on where the problem could be? Any ideas on where I can find a schematic for this unit?

Where's the processor? I've found the DSP board on the back side of the front panel. Is the microprocessor behind the DSP board? Is it soldered of socketed?

You have a problem that was inherent with all Onkyo receivers from this period. You need to contact Onkyo because the microprocessor needs to be replaced. Last I checked, its about $80 from onkyo.

This is NOT an isolated incident as darn near every Onkyo receiver model had this problem.

Good luck...

Amazon.com, MyRemoteControls.com, and Remotes.com all sell a replacement remote for the TX-DS575. I have also seen the Onkyo TS-DS575 receiver with remote listed on eBay for as low as $35. Keep looking; the remotes are out there.

Hello. I have some problems with my onkyo tx ds575. When I use surround, dolby digital or DTS mode (any multi channel sound ) with high volume, reciver turned off. Then standby indicator is blinking....

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as another possible root cause for intermittent shutdown.

The TX-DX575X is about 7 years snd now the red outlined, dolby 5.1 indicator, has become interrmittant 9no sound). Takes many on/off cycles and then sometimes locks in. Any ideas would be appriciated. BRD

Is this with all digital 5.1 inputs or just one? Isolate it by moving the sources around. Sounds like a flaky digital input conenction if it's just one input doing it.
