Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
Whether I print from the printer menu or the computer I get printing so light I can hardly see it. I installed new toner and set print density and
toner on high - no difference.
I have a HP 5100 TN
One thing you can do, and this part directly affects print darkness if bad, is to replace the Transfer Roller. It is a roller with a steel shaft, located beneath the toner cartridge, and it is part of the printer itself. easily removes if you pull up from one side it will come free of the plastic saddle clip, and the other end of the shaft is in a round hole slot. replacing this part with a new one will probably restore print darkness.

Tips for a great answer:
Mar 27, 2015 | Office Equipment & Supplies
1.Log on to your computer and print a test page to the printer. Click on the "Start" button, choose "Control Panel" and then "Printers and Faxes." Right-click on the laser printer, choose "Properties" from the drop-down menu and click the "Print test page" box.
3.Open the printer cover and carefully pull out the toner cartridge. Set the cartridge aside while you open the box containing the new toner. Pull the new toner out but do not yet remove any of the packaging materials. Compare the weight of the new toner with the old one. If the old toner is very light, it is nearly empty and should be replaced.

If new toner was installed and it prints blank pages, please try to print a menu settings page to determine if the problem is part of the printer or an issue external to the printer.
If the menu settings page prints correctly, the source of the problem is external to the printer. To find out if the problem is only with a program, try printing from a different software program. To find out if the problem is only with a particular computer, try printing from a different computer.
If the menu settings page is blank as well, this will narrow the source of the issue to a part on the printer. Please contact Lexmark Technical Support for further assistance.
