Problem Emerson VCR/DVD Combo

By Chandler - usenet poster

Hello,

I purchased and Emerson VCR/DVD combo unit around March and I am having
problems with recording function. The only speeds available for recording
are SP or SLP. When I tape in SLP mode the tape is pretty much
unwatchable. Lots of lines running through and noises throught tape.

I thinking this may be a compatibility problem with the actual blank tape
and the VCR only having 2 speeds available. Any suggestions would be
helpful.

Also, the unit is hooked in through a digital cable box, therefore, you
actually set the recording to begin through the digital cable meunu.

Thanks Irene.
I have the same problem.

I have a JVC camcorder and would like to plug it in to the VCR to play the tapes on TV but I can't because Yellow goes to Video IN, Red to Audio R IN and White to Audio L IN but I can only see on the back is:
DVD/VCR VCR
Audio Out
L Audio IN
R Video IN
Video Out

Where do I plug into. I have tried different things and all I get is sound from the Camcorder on the TV.

It's not a compatibility problem. The first thing to try is a head cleaning.
If this doesn't correct the problem, take it back for an exchange or refund.

It is important to realize that the LP tape speed for the NTSC version of VHS
was never officially recognized by JVC.  Therefore, many North American VHS
recorders and almost all North American JVC decks had only playback support for
the LP tape speed.

It is possible, as one poster mentioned, that your heads could be dirty.  I'm
more inclined to believe, however, that your DVD/VCR combo is defective.  This
isn't surprising as just about every DVD/VCR I've seen aren't worth the plastic
and metal they're built with.

This is most definitely not the case.  - Reinhart
