Necklace under the agitator and need to get it out

I tried to pull the necklace out but it would not budge - now I guess I need to remove the agitator but I can seem to get it out. I took the fabric softener part off but I can see how to the next section off. I believe that the model # is WBSR31400 - not sure where to find the model number.

SOURCE: clogged fabric Softener

I had the same issue, and ran vinegar through the fabric dispenser with a load of towels. Not only did it solve the 'sour towel' problem I had with that load, it also cleared my fabric softener section. Now, I water down all fabric softner when I use it, which is less frequently!

You can take it out and soak it. You can't take it apart though.

Hi jmcgarity,

There are 3 things to check.

- Check the Inlet Valve, sometimes it is a 3 way inlet valve, and the solenoid responsible for water to die Soap Box might be malfunctioning.

Easy way of testing: Attach normal power to both points (Does not matter which side is which, as it is an alternating current) - Be sure to check the voltage of the solenoid, which would be displayed on it 110V or 220v - apply power accordingly. Then attach hose and tap to it, and switch power on and off to the solenoid: ON - Water should flow through, OFF - Water should cease.

- Check the Soap Box Upper area/roof (After removing Die Soap Dispenser Drawer), they got small holes where the water should come through, sometimes (Yet rarely) these get clogged - You can clean it with toothpicks.

- The simplest thing to check is too see if your Dispenser drawer has a siphon cap installed in the softener compartment - Remove this cap and clean the hole under it, and give the cap a good cleaning as well.

If all 3 these things are tried and tested and found correct, then your PCB / Timer may not be giving power to the solenoid when softener should be applied - You can test power to the solenoid mid cycle to check if power goes through to the solenoid after Main wash - If it does not, you need to replace the PCB / Timer.

Hope this helps you :-)

Sounds like the lid switch may be bad. Could you please explain exactly how the washer is malfunctioning?

The bottom part of the agitator seems stuck. It won't spin during a normal wash cycle and it won't budge when I try to move it when it is not on.

Small garments can get caught under the bottom agitator. Disconnect power then remove the agitator cap to expose the agitator bolt. Using a small flat-head screw driver, insert it between the agitator and the cap then pry the cap off the agitator. Remove the barrier cap if present then remove the stud and seal holding the agitator to the shaft using a 7/16" socket wrench with extension. Once the stud and seal are removed, lift the agitator off the shaft. You may need and extra shear of force when pulling the agitator off the shaft.

Pull harder. You have to pry your finger tips under the base and give it a good pull.

Laundry is trapped under the base of the agitator.

Im not very familiar with that type of top loadign washer,,, but on most agitators there is a bolt that runs down the center of the agitator, connecting it to the transmission/gearbox. Usually there is a cap, or softner dispenser that can be pulled off, revealing this bolt.

Necklace caught under the agitator

In the center of the sgitator, there is a bolt.
Sometimes there is a plug to remove by prying out.
Remove this bolt.... or just loosen it, and the necklace will come free.
See item 2 in the expanded view on the left side.

Necklace stuck in washer

Hold the bottom part of the Agitator,(The part that you are talking about),Undo the very top part in an anti-clockwise direction and it will come right off.Use a wrench to remove the nut on the top of the agitator and then lift it right out,you may need to move it from right to left. You will now be able to remove the necklace.Replace the Agitator the reverse of removal.

I have a pant leg caught under the agitator I cannot budge it. What can I do? I need help.

Check on the top of the agitator for a cap to uncover a screw or bolt to remove the agitator, if not you may need to unsrew part of the top of the agitator.
Either way if you can remove what is attaching the agitator, pull it up and out, then the pants should come out.
