What it sounds like is that you have not set up the Video option in your Messenger or Skype program. If this hasn't been done, it will not broadcast your image . It would help if I knew what Messenger you using. This way I can send you directions to setup the camera so it will broadcast. Personally, I'd use Skype and its free to use unless you make phone calls on the computer. Hope this helps. Bud.

Hmm. It seems as if the driver isnt compatible with your hard ware! (sounds very stupid i know) This could be your graphics processor, motherboard,web cam or simply a combination of all three. Id recommend seeing if you can get hold of quickcam software from another vendor.(Just to ensure its not the software version.
If that doesnt work them im pretty sure that your laptop will not support it.
YOU NEED TO USE THE MESSANGER CAM/MIC SETUP ON THE MESSANGER SO I WILL RECOGNIZE CAM OR MIC.IF STILL NOT WORKING..UNPLUG THE CAM AND LOOK IN DEVICE MANAGER.FIND YOUR CAM AND UNINSTALL
THE DRIVERS.REBOOT.DOWNLOAD NEW DRIVERS FROM WEBSITE FOR CAM.MAKING
SURE ITS THE RIGHT MAKE AND MODEL AND ITS THE DRIVERS FOR YOUR OS.THEN
REBOOT.PLUG CAMERA BACK IN.SYSTEM WILL DETECT IT AND LOAD THE
