I am using a firewire to usb but when ever i connect it i see unknown device. how can i get it known?

Usually that tells you that the driver may not be installed. Remove he camera from the USP or however you have it connect to the computer and try to re-install the drivers with the software that came with it. This is all I could find on your unit at this time.
