I checked the drives internalt what I could acces (Because the screws in laptop are impossible to unscrew.. damn company) and nothing seemed wrong, no cables loose. Thanks a lot for help Summary : Internal combo drive Disappears from system Wont load up back even with drivers POWER works in - it opens up and reads the CD/DVD but it Wont appear in the system. Problem solved (temporarily) :

Leave laptop without a connecter power supply for a while, cool it down (really.. put it to cold room or outside or even refrigator if humidity is low tho that is extreme case).

I found this solution randomly.. when I took my laptop on travel through country by bus it was left outside on a cold wind for a while without power supply so my conclusion comes above.

Usb dvd writer can install xp?

Yes you can use a usb external cd/dvd-rom to any operating system as long as the bios allows you to, most bios's have the capability.

When the external usb drive has been connected power up the mechine, in post it should tell what to press to enter your boot menu without entering your bios and choose usb drive to boot.

Toshiba Satellite A75-S206 DVD\CD-RW drive problem

Hello GeneMat,

I am Romeet,i will try and help you with this problem.Seems it could be an issue with the Combo DVD Drive's Driver Software or Firmware.

Try This:

From your Desktop:

Right Click " My Computer" Icon and select "Properties"

Go to "Hardware" Tab and select "Device Manager"

Under Device Manager, scroll down to the "DVD/CDROM Drives" menu and click on the plus ( + ) Sign next to it

Right Click the Drive name eg " Toshiba DVD-R TSST 2313" and select " Uninstall" Click yes to any prompts and restart your Laptop.

After rebooting, Windows XP should pick up the drivers again, so wait a while for it to complete and until it notifies you that " Windows successfully completed installing your new hardware" or something to that effect and then try using the software cds again

Best of luck!
