Hi There Summary Usage of compatible ink and leave the printer idle too long may cause printhead clogging What should you do if you get this problem. Relax; you may recover the printhead by unclogging it. Follow these steps to unclog the printhead 1.Right click in the printer driver name 2.Select Properties menu 3.Click Maintenance tab 4.Click on cleaning sign for regular cleaning. Perform this up to 3 times. 5.If this does not work, perform Deep Cleaning And if that not work Some times it needs a good clean up but this is up to you if you want to do this, But after you done this prime the printer so it gets the inks back in the heads, it may take a little time for the inks to work. Ok. There is fluid cleaner for this but I can never find any in the shops the only ones I seen is when they sell them in Tesco but they come in with the ink refill bottles so I just use worm water by it self on a cloth and dabbing on the heads to clean them, it will not harm the heads but not to much water. Some heads are on the inks them self but some have them inside the printer so I not know your printer so if the heads are inside you need to get them out you may find that some heads will just clip out put some need to be unscrewed so you got to know how they come out so be careful and not push to hard on them, if the heads are on the ink then it is a easy job to clean them, It worth a try it worked for me more than ones. Please all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.

Hi, in this case you need a new printhead for your ESP 3. You can order one when you go on www.kodak.com/go/itg. Then follow the step by step solution for image quality and at the end you can enter your adresse and get a new printhead.
Thanks for using FixYa. First disconnect the USB cable from the back of the printer without turning it off. Now remove the cartridges. Wait till the ' Insert Cartridges ' message is displayed on the control panel. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product. Wait for a minute and then reconnect the power cord. Press the power button if it does not automatically turn on. Replace the cartridges and close the door. On receiving any command to print a test page let it do so. Now reconnect the USB cable to the rear of the product, and then try printing again.
Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.
Try placing sheet of black text on copy board, and run many copies black only. I ran 25x12 times still no black. Run head clean after about each 50 sheets. Persevered and finally BLACK ink OK This worked on my C6180. Good Luck
I just had this problem and here's what I did (with a little help from a previous yahoo answers post)...
1. Turn printer and computer off
2. Disconnect printer from computer
3. Unplug printer completely
4. Hold power button on printer while plugging printer back into power source. Maintain holding power button in until printer cycles completely (Ihave no idea if hold it actually does anything...but I tried it and it worked)
5. Turn printer back off (which actually may happen anyway when you finally release the power button)
6. Reconnect printer back to power source and computer.
7. Power both back up.
That should do it hopefully. Also make sure your printer cartridges aren't totally out. It won't let you print if even one of them is completely empty.
