    Clarification Request

by alannon, posted on Nov 17, 2008
    1) Do you have a Pavillion ze2000 series notebook? Yes

    2) What do you mean by it didn't work? The driver supplied or you couldn't get to the site? There was not cd that came with the laptop when i purchased it. I reinstalled XP and now my speakers and my wireless does not work.

I'm not sure what your inistal problem is, BUT:
it sounds as if you do not have a sound card, and need to reinstall the sound card. So:
First: go to the Microsoft XP website and install ALL updates. If the sound worked before, you may need to reinstall some updates. I have updated the laptop.

Third: Go to the manufacturer's website, and download the install ofyour sound driver. Look up what your sound card manufacturer is and go to their website. It should tell you in the Device Manager.

I have downloaded the driver that HP says to use. I am stuck not what else to do. I was wondering if someone who has the same laptop knows the name of the driver and i could try and find the driver that way

Let me know how this worked!

First of all, Thanks for the rating! Now, let me see if I can help you further. I went to the HP's website. You have told me thus far, you have a Pavilion ZE2000series....is it a 2000t or 2000z or just 2000? Find this information in the My Computer icon and choose the correct one in the HP website. If you pick one different from your model, this may not work.

PS. Do the same for your wireless card.

I cannot dowload sound driver and wireless driver

If you cannot download the driver from your Toshiba, then use a different computer to download the drivers and then copy them to the Toshiba to install.
You can download any/allthe Windows XP or Vista device drivers for your model laptop from the ToshibaWEB site from their download page. Make sure you enter the model of your laptopso you can get the correct drivers. My wireless is gone, and does not show up in device manager

If your wireless adapter is not appearing in Device manager open the cover on the bottom of the lap top and make sure the wireless card is properly connected, next look for an external switch that might have been accidentally turned off. If everything is good then you may want to try a new wireless card for the PCMCIA Slot.

Hard Drive crash-reinstalled XP results in No wireless or sound

Does your device manager show that you have a wireless network card? If so, you turn it on and off usint the Fn + F2 buttons together. If you need the driver, go here to choose which one you have, and download it.

New driver should do the trick on the audio, so why don't you go here to download it.

Wireless Problems!

The computer looks for the cable because wireless is not working.

If wireless card is usb try removing laptop battery, unplugging power adapter and wifi cards, connect in five minutes and see if it works

If it still does not work, reinstall wireless card drivers.
If you have a disk reinstall them from disk.
If you lost the disk download drivers from the Internet, post model on fixya to get the link.

If the wireless card does not work after reinstalling drivers then it is probably faulty.

Note: if you use laptop internal wireless, usually you need to activate a switch to get it working.

Comapq Presario 770 Tu - Driver for WinXP -Audio & Wireless

Here's a link to Compaq's XP driver page for the 770tu. There's not much there. What you may have to do is find out the make and model of the sound card (wireless card for the other person with the wireless issue) and go to the manufacturer's site or driverguide.com search at driver guide by the scrd's make and model. You may be able to find some drivers at driver guide by the machine model as well. I've put XP in a couple of Toshibas that I had to open up to find the sound card type, you may also be able to find the type in the device manager or at Compaq's support site under the system configuration.
