Question about Dell 1815dn All-In-One Laser Printer

1 Answer

Fax Transmission fail from Dell Laserjet 1815dn

We have setup Dell 1815dn in our office for fax transmission.
Many times our fax machine doesn't send / receive faxes, it shows Comm. Error Retry. I researched a lot on the net but unable to find a solution to fix it.
My research shows that the modem speed is set at 33.6 KBPS while the TX/RX speed (from Protocol dump list) is different at various times. It varies from 300 bos to 14.4 kbps.

Another error I noticed from the Technical Menu >Error Information Report is "CRU FUSE ERROR". I am unable to understand what a CRU Fuse error is? Can you please also elaborate on the error, why it appears and how to clear the problem.

My fax line is connected thru wireless because the telephone line is 500 metres away from the office, we had used 3Com wireless setup to access the telephone lines.

Please HELP!!!! Urgent

Thanks Best Regards

Can send but not receive faxes. dell 1815 dn. I can do everything else, just not receive faxes, went through help lists and have follow everything to no avail...i need it to work:(

Did you check the "answer call after x rings" option?
It sometimes defaults to 7 rings, at which time the sending fax machine has given up already.

You find the settings here: "Fax -> Fax Defaults -> Rings to answer"

I need assistance with fax error codes # 322 and # 358. What do they mean?

Error code 322- There was a communication error with the receiving fax machine due to poor telephone line conditions.
Solution
Set the receiving machine to receive at a slower transmission speed
If the session fails after sending several pages of a large document, resend the document as several smaller documents.
Retry the fax reception at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved. Call the telephone provider if line conditions fail to improve.
Error code 358--
The remote user pressed the Stop key,
The remote machine encountered a system problem such as no paper or a paper jam.
Try
Configure the local fax machine to use a slower reception speed.
Disable ECM mode on your machine.
Try sending a fax to another location.

Comm error 388

Here's some info and possible steps to take. This is from the HP website.

Error 388 for a HP LaserJet 3050

The local machine has originated a fax session and detected a remote fax machine but has been unable to detect any T30 frames. If the machine is in V.17 mode, it is likely the connection has been interrupted. In V.34 mode is also possible for this error to occur due to compatibility problems with certain machines and/or line conditions.

Solution:

1. Reattempt the fax transmission at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved.

2. Disable V.34 on the local machine and attempt the transmission using the V.17 mode. ( See error 227 for changing to a slower speed or disabling V.34 .)

Disable V.34 on local machine V.34 is the modem protocol used by the product to send faxes. It is the worldwide standard for full-duplex modems sending and receiving data across telephone lines at 1,200 or 2,400 bps. The default setting for V.34 is ON . Follow the steps below to disable V.34 setting.
  1. Press Menu/Enter .
  2. Press the < or > buttons to select Fax Setup , then press Menu/Enter .
  3. Press the < or > buttons to select All Faxes , then press Menu/Enter .
  4. Press the < or > buttons to select V.34 , then press Menu/Enter .
  5. Press the < or > buttons to select OFF , then press Menu/Enter to save the selection.
Hope this helps, samson39

Error codes 283 and 232 in received Faxes

basically error 232 indicates that a communication failure has occurred between the two machines
Following these steps may help resolving your issue

1. Make sure that the phone cord is plugged directly from the wall jack into the back port of the fax machine that is marked "Line" or "To Wall Jack", or that has a wall-jack symbol.
2. Verify that the line interface unit (LIU) (the box that the phone cord plugs into) is seated fully into the back of the fax.
3. Remove any other device from the line such as splitters, credit card machines, or telephone answering machines, and retry the fax communication.
4. Try sending and receiving faxes on a different fax line.
5.Try using a different telephone cord.
6. Have the phone company test your line for static or noise problems.
7. Disable Error Correction Mode (ECM) if the same error occurs repeatedly.

Hope this helps.
thx

Receiving error 388. Can receive faxes but won't connect with other fax machines when trying to send

Hi,

The reason for the error code:
4e5e48b.jpg Error Code: 386, 387, 388, 389, 390, 391, 392, 393, 394, 395 Definition

There is too much noise on the line for a valid connection between two fax machines to complete. The noise problem might go away over time.

Solution

Retry the fax reception at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved. Call the telephone provider if line conditions fail to improve.
