Question about Lexmark X6170 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Alignment problem It's telling me that I have an alignment problem and to remove tape. The tape has already been removed but the printer still won't print in color and the same error message keeps popping up. Help before I kill my printer.

    I changed color and black printer cartridges. Printer is stating that alignment is off and will not print. It says to remove tape from cartridges however I have already done this.

Try swabbing the print surface of the color cartridge with a q-tip and a little alcohol. It may be clogged.

It may mean the print head alignment rather than the cartridge
Check properties on printer in control panel and see if there is a head alignment option.
If there is it will print out an alignment page that you can compare to see if alignment is out on the print head.

Installed new black print cartridge and removed tape. Continues to say alignment. Will onlyprint alignment page


After you print the alignment page, I think you have to then scan the page in the orientation that it asks you to.
By doing this, the scanner can tell if the printer alignment is correct.

Alignment / ink cartridge problem


You must replace both cartridges to perform a sucessful alignment.

I had this problem before as well. I took my ink into the refill store and she steamed it for me and cleaned it up. It then worked great. It had dried ink and wasn't printing proper.

Printing alignment problem


First thing to try is to remove the power brick (not just the cord the whole brick) from printer for a minute then re insert and try it again. If this doesn't help try uninstalling it then re installing the printer

Printer is printing every line two times and is faint


if you said you have done and removed the tape and run all test, chances are the cartridge itself is the problem , return to vendor for a new replacement, this can sometimes happen

My Lexmark 5470 won't print anything but the alignment page. Then it says to remove the tape from the cartridge. There is no tape on the cartridge. I have cleaned it and it still won't print. Help I need...


I have the same problem as posted by tahoeowner. The printer indicates that I have an alignment issue and tells me to remove any tape from the cartridge. There is no tape on either cartridge, nor will the printer work with any other cartridges. I'm getting tired of wasting paper and ink with all the printer's "retry" messages.
