Slide water chamber out and put filtered water in it - i would make only 1 cup at a time, so fill only to the minimum fill line. Most tap water will overpower the taste of the espresso. Use grounds, not pods - podded espresso will come out too weak. I would suggest using the double filter cup instead of the single - doubles can be ordered from Cuisinart website.

My cuisinart em200 will not turn on.

Seems like this model has alot of issues based on what I am reading on the internet.
First thing you should do is make sure that your plug is working by moving your Cuisinart to a plug that you know is working or plugging something in that same plug that runs, so you know the breaker or GMI switch isn't tripped. Next, contact Cuisinart for assistance. I located the manual and it says nothing about troubleshooting issues like this. Contact information is included in the manual though, so here it is: https://www.cuisinart.com/share/pdf/manuals/em-200.pdf

Hope this helps.

My EM-200 stopped working. The steam was not comiong out, then the machine started "clicking", now it will not power up at all. I even unplugged, let cool, stil noting, no light, no sounds.

Take it back to the store and get a refund! Do it now. Do not buy another or accept a warranty offer! I have had a EM200C for 3 years now, or rather I should say I've had 3 of them. The first one was a gift and stopped working after about 5 months (the water would not flow through the coffee basket) the second one stopped working after about 8 months use when the motor burnt out, the 3rd warranty replacement I got a month a go and the steam wand is not working. A very little bit of hot water comes out, it is not plugged by milk because I have never used it and I also soaked it in hot water and tried repeatedly to clear it. My opinion is that while Cuisinart was once a trusted name in small appliances, this is no longer the case.

New to expresso machine - Cuisinart EM100c

This is a very loud machine. Here's the normal operation: You turn it on, and wait a few minutes for it to heat up, at which point the heating light will go off. Then make sure the function knob is turned to coffee, and it will start brewing. At first, it will make a short (loud) sound and then stop for a second. The purpose behind this is that the machine is pre-wetting the coffee, so that steam can more easily shoot through it in a couple of seconds. Then the loud noise will start again and run continuously until you turn the function knob back to the center. So, the sounds you were hearing were normal. There is a delay between when you hear the sounds and the water starts flowing out. If the coffee is pressed down (tamped) too hard, that delay will be longer. Hope this helps. You made a much better choice purchasing this machine rather than the more expensive EM-200, in my opinion.

I want an espresso and it's not working...

Most of the time, you just have to reposition the water reservoir - simply pull it up and then put it back in its proper place. If the water tank is even a centimeter off, the suction tube doesn't properly grab it, so it can't take in water.

If you reposition the water tank, and the EM-100 is still not sucking any water out of the tank, there may be a problem with the water reservoir tank itself. Call Cuisinart - I can't remember the Canadian number off-hand (The EM-100C is a Canadian model, so I'm assuming you're in Canada) - and have them send you a new water tank.

Good luck! Let me know if you need any more help with this machine - I am a huge raving fan.

Cafe Roma Expresso/Cappucino machine

My understanding is that this is normal with units like the ESP8XL which use a pressurized portafilter. Non-pressurized units will leave a dry puck of used grounds.
