Display driver problem

I have a Compaq SR5350F, bought 3 months ago, and I have Vista. Every so often, the screen goes blank, then comes back on and I get a message that says, "Display driver has stopped running, but has recovered." WTF?? "Display driver has stopped running, but has recovered."

It may be worth running a checkdisk on your PC too :) And if Teknowolf's suggestion doesn't work then you can get the latest nvidia drivers here:

This is a common sign of a driver conflict error. It usually happens when two or more drivers are requesting the same resources, or if the diver has become corrupted or if the driver was just plainly poorly written.

The driver you want in particular is the Graphics driver (The 2nd on the list) Though you may want to update all that are not up to date(This would Lessen the likelyhood of future conflicts)

Another possible soultion might be to upgrade away from integrated graphics.

Laptop screen went black

Blank white screen in my Acer Travelmate 5730 Laptop


Hello Karthik,
This must surely be a problem with your monitor, because you say that you see the white screen while boot up. If this is a graphic driver issue, you may have the problem after booting up in windows. Since its been only a month old laptop, the product must be in warranty for sure. Take away any CDs in the drive, any USB drives and see if this white screen appears. Let us know.

It might be a problem with the computer. I would advise going back to where you bought it and returning it to either get a new one or a different one. Glad I Helped!

Computer boots up but goes blank after a few seconds!


Can you enter BIOS Setup menu by pressing F2 or DEL before it boots - does same thing happen?
If so then monitor is the problem - check cable connections - try a different monitor...

Display driver problem


Try this:

START/ right click Computer goto Manage/ click Services

Here are the services I have stopped and disabled. You can right click each service and goto properties to disable them.

readyboost
superfetch
print spooler - must be re-enabled and started if you use a printer
server
computer browser
secondary logon
security center
windows error reporting
windows search
windows firewall - must be re-enabled and started to use windows firewall

Blank screen


Plug and external monitor to it if that goes unfortunely the LCD in that lappy is stuffed...if not then something else has gone amiss come back here to tell us a bit more info.
