Question about Belkin Routers
My router keeps knocking my laptop offline, the router was setup next to my roomates desktop and it worked fine for a week, then off one day back on never consistent. we tried using the manual CD and it keeps saying check the router and restart, and somehting about a reset button but I found none on my router. If it is not the cable ISP, and his service works fine disconnected, it has to be the router. I am wonderingi if buying a cheap one is causing me to get this spotty service? I have been told that I need to synch it with the desktop using the setup CD, but my roomate doesnt think so. The Indian call center are hard to understand and follow... can you help?
Make sure the router is properly connected and the physical setup is ok, not kept close to any emitting electronic device like a speaker. Connect the router hard wired, Access the modem's gui by the ip address. (type in ipconfig in you command window, the default gateway will be your modems IP) once you type that ip address in the address bar of IExp. it will ask you for the uid and the password, leave it blank or use admin as username and password is blank... Take the uid and the password for your internet from your internet service provider... eg AT&T or Primus Canada. Enter that in there and and try to configure the router.
but before you move on to the router. make sure the modem has the DSL light solid and not blinking... Try it and let me know..
