Question about Sony KP-46WT510 46" Rear Projection HDTV
When you press the power button you hear a click and then nothing happens. It flashes 6 times where the stand by light is. For about two weeks now when the t.v. was still working the screen would flicker. And sometimes it would even cut off. You wouldn't be able to turn it on for about 15-30 minutes and it would flash the same 6 stand by lights. To top it all off about two months ago, while I was watching television, there was a 'boom' sound and the sound went out. Sound hasn't come on since that day.
Although the other response is in much better technical lingo, it sounds to me like the television had a high voltage arc which I have seen on quite a few of the sony big screens lately. Usually, it causes a part on the circuit board, (one of many that were listed on prev. solver's list) to fail. This causes a delimma for the repairman, because when they find the bad part and replace it, sometimes it will pop again causing repeat failure of boards and/or parts on the board. Sony is known for having bad tubes on their projection sets, and it can be a difficult repair even for a trained tech. I suggest calling a sony service center in your area, and get an accurate estimate before deciding if replacing the set is the best idea. Hope this is helpful input, Russmann.

Replacing the G-board or the D6116 & D6301 diodes will fix the issue

Symptoms / Customer Description
[Primary Symptom Code: 2111 ]
1. Standby light flashing 8 times and TV has no picture or sound.
Checking CN8016/pin 3 on the D Board was going above 7.4v, thus causing
IC8008/pin 12 to put the set into shutdown.
Found HV Block was defective.
2. Goes into shutdown with the
timer LED blinking 6 times.
This is supposed to indicate a loss of 5V on the A board.
3. HV came the shutdown with 6
Unfortunately, just about any problems on the low B+ lines will generate this error. I've run into several situations where the
tech has replaced all of the boards and the problem remains.
It is usually one of the deflection yokes and if not that, one of the video drivers on the C boards. Unplug the yokes (CN017, CN018 and CN019) one at a time while turning the set back on to
isolate the defective yoke.
NOTE: Disconnect the C boards from the tubes to avoid phosphor damage.
4. TV Timer LED Blinks 6 times.
The 6 blinks indicates the loss of 5 volts on the emitter of Q714 on the A Board. This 5 volts
is supplied from
the 5 volt regulator IC 2 (A Board) which receives 6 volts from the G Board.
If the 6 volts is missing or a short on the 5 volt line you will receive 6 blinks. The 5 volts is also supplied to the B board. Therefore before changing boards check if 6
volts is present at CN 4 /pin 3. 5v to CN12 /pin 17 to AD Board, and is 5v at CN 13/pin A23 A Board .
So you can see the 5v is supplied to the A, AD, & B board and is created by 6 volts off of the G board. You might want to un plug the
connectors CN13 & CN12 (A Board) and test for short circuit with your ohm meter on either the A, AD, or B board.
5. HV came the shutdown with 6 blinks.
Found D5021 short on the G Board
D5021 8719-988-61 ISS355TE-17
6. KP-53HS30 Set shutsdown.
Yoke was causing D Board to fail repeatedly.
After replaced D board and convergence was away off, most likely problem is in yoke's.
Ref 205 P/N 145153711 Yoke
7. KP-43HT20 Shutdown 6 blinks
Found FBT has no
ringing at all using the Sencore VA 62.
Replaced the FBT T8005.

Ref. T8005 P/N 145328521 FBT
8. No picture 5X
Set has no picture and goes to 5X. Determined that set had audio, and was going to HV
shutdown with no
filament on the CRT's . Replaced HV block.
9. Turn on retrace line then shutdown.
Found ground wire on CN8016/pin 4 was pulled out not grounding the HV Block
10. KP-51HW40 Shutdown 8 Blinks
Found the 6v supply from the G Board dropping to
3.2v. CN4/3 drops to 3v, pix mutes,
Red LED flashes then a grayscale type pattern comes back on but pix is reduced in size vertically/horizontally then pix would flash bright and unit would shutdown/8 blinks.
Found bad connections on IC5004.
Re-soldered IC5004 and unit has been operating normally
for past 3 days.
11. The TV shutdown with 5 Blinks no high voltage and no Horizontal Drive to Q8042.
DC voltage on the emitter of Q8041 was 2.7v. Voltage on the base was .07v. Q8141 was
open. Found a shorted IC8007/pin 5 was 14 volt DC.
Replaced IC8007 P/N 875970007 on the D Board.
12. KP46WT510 Shutdown 6 Blinks. 6 Blinks = Low B+ OCP/OVP
SOLUTION: Replaced Flyback transformer. It had no rings on the ringer test.
Comments: Any load on the B+ line can cause 6 Blinks.
Example: If the 200v line is loaded down will cause a drop in B+ due to bright picture current demand.
13. Shut down, 8 blinks. Does hear HV start to come up before it shuts down.
the protection voltage from the HV Block to CN8016/pin 3 was going above 7.4v causing IC8008/pin 12 to turn the Horiziontal Drive OFF.
Replace HV block.
Replaced D board. After 1.5 hours, pix starts to flag then will shutdown.
Reading NVM emergency history showed no fault codes.
After the set had been on for 1 hour, 120 hz interference could be seen in picture, causing picture
Found AC input filter capacitor, C6032, to be cold soldered on the G Board.
Ref C6032 P/N 113775011 1500UF 250V.Notes:
15. Shutdown, 4 blinks
Replaced the D board- same issue. Unit has +/-15 volts. Has 5 and 9 volts to the Jungle
Has waveforms from the Jungle to the Vertical Output. Suggested to check clock/data lines on IC001 for 4.6 volts DC. They were low. Tech replaced the B Board to resolve the issue.

16. The TV shutdown and the LED flashers
Found Q8038 shorted on the D board.
