Check and make sure you have the composite cable (5 color cable) connected correctly and you have the NTSC/PAL set to NTSC (north american if applies) If you have a audio out (r/wh) cable into the RGB inputs on the TV, itll knock out a color or chroma channel and itll look strange.

Picture is not on the screen. I cannot seem to

Alot of times you have to back up the TV to something like LINE 1 or LINE 2. It will not show up with the TV on channel 3. When I attached my VCR, I hit input and line 1 and 2 came up and then the DVD player would play just fine. Try that.

How to hook up vcr and dvd together ?

|DVD| -> |VCR| -> |TV|

1. Connect your VCR to your TV. (Using Antena cable or RCA cables.)

2. From your DVD player, choose the AUDIO VIDEO OUT. Then, connect that to your VCR's LINE IN jacks.

(*)Your DVD player has 3 jacks coming out. Yellow-video, White- Audio Left and Red- Audio Right.
If you VCR does not have the RED jack. Go to a radio shack and tell on of the sales person taht you need to connect 2 RCA audio outs to 1 RCA audio in. (He/ She will give you a "2RCA Male to 1RCA Female" splitter)

3. Finally, play your DVD, put your VCR channel in TV and most important select the LINE channel in your VCR. (This channal may called as L1, Line,... etc)

You should be seeing the DVD in your TV now.

If you want to play the VCR, just put the casset and play.

Important- The VCR needs to be powered on in order to the DVD signals to go to the TV.

Cheers!!!!

No sound

tcolson,

good day, make sure your RCA red and white marked cable connected to TV screen audio input where you also connect your yellow cable which is the video.

note: always remember color code of RCA cable

yellow = video
red and white = audio (left and right)

connection would always be:

video device yellow RCA socket = TV yellow "INPUT" socket
white and red RCA = TV white and red "INPUT "socket
make sure that all this 3 cable are connected together in a specific "A/V input"

cheers ,
mark

VCR, DVD, TV Connection

first let me say that a dvd player and a dvd recorder are different. the dvd player can only play dvd while a dvd recorder can both play and record dvd that is said. what i understand from what you write is currently is - out of your tv box into your dvd player then out of your player into your tv........ ok some dvd has two connections. line one and line two if your tv box is in line one then you should plug the rca cable in line two in. then you select line two on the dvd player then plug the other end to your vcr in line out so that is out of your vcr into line two of your dvd player.(some times one of the connection is at the front of your player hidden) if your dvd player only have one connection then you would have to plug out your tv box and replace it with the vcr cable and when you finish coping your vhs tape you plug in back your tv box to your dvd player. hope i could help.......... Hi it's me again the gal who dropped her tv

Yes, you should still have sound, providing that you have an antenna connected and are tuned to a channel. If you have a vcr or dvd player to hook up to it try that and see if you have sound.
No sound while viewing a tuned in channel or via a vcr/dvd player is not a good sign. It may have cracked the PCB inside the tv. A cracked PCB, depending on the severity, can also be repaired.
You really won't know the severity of any internal damage until it is opened up and checked over.
Is the line on the screen Horizontal (left to right) or Vertical (up and down) and is it centered on the screen? A vertical line would indicate that it may be a cracked PCB (Printed Circuit Board).

Samsung CXD2512 TV/VCR Combo...Cannot hook up DVD player

We also don't have a remote. We hooked a DVD/VCR combo to the Samsung combo by attaching the cable from the cable line to the DVD player and an additional cable from DVD to TV and it used to work but after we lost the control, the DVD can only be listened to but not seen. The VHS from the DVD player works perfectly though.

When we had the remote (before connecting the other combo) we used line-in to see a DVD or VHS using the yellow red and white cables from the Samsung to the other player.
