Start from the begining by turning off your computer with nothing plugged into it except the mouse, keyboard and monitor. Once you have it started plug in the iomega and see if it is recognized. You should get info on the drive from your pc. If not open my computer and see if you can see it. If not sounds like it maybe dead.

Have only just decided to install my new Iomega 500 GB usb 2.0 hard drive and I have mislaid my quick install guide. I have an Apple imac can you help please

Just connect the AC power to the IOMEGA, and the USB cable between the IOMEGA and a USB port on your computer. It is a "plug-and-play" device, and so Apple OS X should automatically recognize it.

Bought a new computer desk, shut computer down correctly, turned off all power and moved. Plugged everything back in, powered up - and everything but the iOmega Select Hard Drive is working. - It has...

Since it doesn't show up in both pc's then the iOmega is faulty - it must have suffered a shock during transfer and this is terminal. Your only hope of recovering what's in it is to dismantle it, take out the hard disk and put it in the desktop - if even there it doesn't show up then it's dead, junk it.

Fatal Error 5 is normally indicative of a Disk Failure. Because the OS can't read the portions of the drive.

Harddisk doesn't boot fully anymore. The screen imoega screenplay stays always

Format the hard disk using NTFS file go to www.iomega.com and download the latest version of firmware, unzip it to a folder in your computer and copy it to a directory in the hard disk,ex:Firmware.
Run the iomega without beeing connected to the pc scroll down to the folder called Firmware and update it!
It will work fine again

Disk spins ...then I hear a beep...icon does not show up

The hard disk or the adapter case maybe faulty.
To test the hard disk, remove it form the Iomega case and connect it to an USB hard disk adapter and plug it into a computer's USB port.
If this computer see it as an external hard drive and you can open the folders and files then the hard disk is OK, then the Iomega adapter case is faulty.
Then you need a new hard drive adapter case, it doesn't need to be an Iomega brand.
