check the water line fron filter that continues on to water dispfrom icemaker, also a bad water disp solenoid or no pwr to water valve disp solenoid could be a problem, when you try to disp water can you hear a click from the solenoid operating to let water out?
One of the following items is most likely the problem.
The inlet valve. The dispencer switch. the water filter, or the water storage tank.
If the ice will dispence then you can eliminat the dispencer switch. If you have heated the tank in the freshfood section then you can eliminat the tank. You may also have a frozen water line. The most common would be the inlet valve. it is located on the back of the refrigerator. It is the item the water line connects to from the wall. There is one water valve but two solenoids, one for the icemaker and one for the water dispencer. If power is getting to the solenoid then replace the water valve. No power getting to the solenoid then the switch at the dispencer is bad.
It would depend on the age of the refrigerator whether repair is economical. If the refrigerator is under ten years old repair it. If it is over ten years old you have to consider how much life is remaining for the refrigerator. Burnt smell source must be located because that is the key to your problem. It could be a simple matter of replacing the switch in the door.
ther first refrig id have to see for better idea of problem but hte second with the flaps open and closing is going to need a high voltage board part num(12920710)---thats the part number i get wehn i look it up with the model MFI2568AEW. dont know where you got 12002608(that to is a h.v. board. which ever itssan easy enough repair to do yourself, its mounted on the rear of refrig and comes with programming instructions in the box
Texas, sounds like your water reservoir is frozen up. Remove your 2 cripser drawers, you will see the reservoir behind them. Take a hair dryer and go over the tank and tubing ends. See if the water starts flowing. I find a lot of frozen water reservoirs on these french door models. They have a insulation kit for them. Catriver.
Most likely it is the High Voltage Control board located in the unit compartment (take off the back cover where the water lines are) i have had lots of them failing and doing all kinds of odd things, so far it has been that computer. Part number 12002608
